The website www.amsterdamsmartcity.nl informs visitors about smart and sustainable projects in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
Tuesday 18 September 2012 – The platform Amsterdam Smart City launches the new website www.amsterdamsmartcity.nl. It will be announced today during the meeting “Reinventing Citizenship” at the PICNIC Festival 2012 in Amsterdam. The aim of the website is to inform visitors about innovative initiatives in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, including examples such as Smart Sports Parks, Groene Grachten, Smart World@IJburg, Climate Street, Health-Lab and AmsterdamOpent. In all projects, the collaborations between various organisations drive innovative solutions, technologies and testing methods that lead to the development of a smart city. The goal of the website is to acquaint residents and organisations with these initiatives. By publishing an overview of more than 30 projects, knowledge is shared and other parties can be inspired to work together. With this knowledge, they can work decisively towards the further development of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area as a smart city.
of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area
Featuring more than 90 partners, the platform Amsterdam Smart City presents a map of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area on its website, showcasing 30 projects and initiatives in the region. These projects are divided between five themes: Living, Working, Mobility, Public Facilities and Open Data. On the new homepage, visitors can use the map as a navigation to explore the various projects. They can also search via Partner, Theme or Area. For each project, background information will be published on the website, plus YouTube videos, photos, an overview of all involved partners, and there is an extensive knowledge centre containing all relevant information about smart cities. The website will be continuously updated with new initiatives in order to demonstrate all that is happening in the region, as well as to share the knowledge that has been gained.
The website was built using Responsive Website Design techniques, meaning it is equally accessible to all users of PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Utilising the online map as they navigate the city, visitors to the website can learn about the smart technologies and collaborative partnerships in the environment around them.
About Amsterdam Smart City
Amsterdam Smart City (ASC) is a unique partnership between businesses, authorities, research institutions and the people of Amsterdam. The platform ASC was initiated by the Amsterdam Innovation Motor, the City of Amsterdam, Liander and KPN. It has grown into a broad platform, with more than 90 partners involved in a variety of projects focussing on energy transition and open connectivity.
