When will Amsterdam become a zero city?

Traffic fatalities are a leading cause of premature death of people under 30. Most are pedestrians and cyclists. The question is how to redesign traffic to reduce the number of victims. Zero cities successfully do. Read my newest blogpost (in Dutch). The English version will be published in due time at Smart City Hub.

is the title of my newest blogpost about - yes- the lack of affordability of cities (Amsterdam included).
However, if you have no proficiency of Dutch, you must wait a couple of weeks; only the Dutch version is available now. Try it.....

Public space, a distinguishing characteristic of cities

My newest post is about public space. In the Netherlands we have quite a lot of good examples, that came into existence in an organic way or that have been designed recently. In this post I refer a lot to Amsterdam, so don't miss it.
Smart designers also add light and smell (of oranges) to influence the mood the public.

Wie liever over publieke ruimte leest, kan terecht bij de Nederlandse versie, die al een paar weken geleden is verschenen: hmjvandenbosch.com/2020/05/27/de-gezellige-stad/

The new commons: Empowering citizens

In a time that empowering citizens is hot, you might consider reading the seminal book of Elinor Ostrom, Governing the Commons. No time? My newest post is informative too and offers many examples of urban commons. Did you know that the commons movement in Italian cities is thriving and that Bologna is experimenting with new forms of urban government, the city as a common?
