Op 13 november 2018 vindt het jaarlijkse IT Room Infra Event plaats in Den Bosch.

De branchegroep IT Room Infra is een collectief van bedrijven die zich als gespecialiseerde aanbieders in Nederland profileren. Hun boodschap is dat de realisatie van IT Rooms een hightech activiteit is die professioneel moet worden bedreven en steeds breder efficiënt kan worden toegepast.

Het programma (https://fhi.nl/itroominfra/programma-2018/) bestaat uit 33 lezingen (3 plenair en 30 parallel). De onderwerpen van de lezingen zijn zorgvuldig op elkaar afgestemd en verdeeld in vijf tracks:

> New flexible energy solutions for neighbourhoods
> Up to 40% energy self-sufficiency for an innovative neighbourhood in Amstelveen.

A future all electric neighbourhood generates 66% of all energy needed, but struggles with high peak flows in both summer and winter.

This high grid impact can be reduced when flexibility is introduced in the heating and EV charging.

That's what consultancy firm Resourcefully concludes about the new De Scheg neighbourhood in Amstelveen, the Netherlands.

The self-sufficiency (energy which both is produced and consumed at the same location) of a typical residential area can be increased from 27% to nearly 40% through the flexible use of generated electricity.

The study used data on solar panels, household energy consume and electric vehicles to calculate how sustainable a planned neighbourhood in Amstelveen can be designed.

Resourcefully developed a flexible dashboard to increase and combine solar energy, electric mobility and heating for city neighbourhoods.

This dashboard provides a concrete contribution to the energy and mobility transition in the city, supporting decision makers, grid and EV charging points operators and installers.

The CATALYST consortium is establishing the Green Data Centre – Stakeholders Group (GDC-SG) to bring under one roof data centre owners and managers, Distribution System Operators and heat network operators, utilities, energy retailers and Energy Service
Companies, Smart Cities and regulatory representatives.

The mission is to contribute to the vision of Green Data Centres as engaged players in the energy transition towards decarbonization of the society. More specifically the aim is to discuss, debate and resolve technological, business and regulatory challenges arising from
the integration of data centres as key actors in the energy domain and smart infrastructures of the future.

The energy consumption of data centres in the EU is predicted to reach 104 TWh in 2020. With the continuous infusion of IT services in our daily lives and the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), distributed data centres and the cloudification of the legacy computer systems this number should come as no surprise. And energy is indeed a precious commodity. As such, to ensure sustained availability, reliability and security of Europe’s critical infrastructures, data centres should reinforce their investments towards energy efficient business innovation and successfully lead the on-going energy transition. Taking up such a pivotal role will bring opportunities for energy efficient data centres to not only reduce their operating costs and improve their performance and efficient use of resources, but also create new revenue streams through waste energy reuse and energy flexibility services offerings.

Four European projects - SEEV4-City, CleanMobilEnergy, SIMPLA and EV ENERGY are organising an event on Europe's Urban Energy and Mobility Transition.

This event presents activities developed by and with European cities and regions that are frontrunners applying innovative renewable energy solutions combined with EV charging infrastructure.

The four European projects are working on these topics from different angles, in different stages and provide ingredients to get these sustainable solutions replicated in large scale. The target is city level and beyond. These project initiatives jointly aim to boost progress.

Al 5 jaar staat de Nationale Dag voor Duurzaamheid in het Hoger Onderwijs (NDDHO) in het teken van duurzaamheid en verbinding. NDDHO18 verbindt onderwijs, onderzoek, overheid, bedrijfsleven én verbindt jong en oud.
Het thema van NDDHO18 is 'Duurzaam. Verbindend. Circulair'.

NDDHO is interessant voor duurzaamheidscoördinatoren en ICT’ers, maar ook voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in duurzaamheid in het algemeen en het inzetten van ICT om verduurzaming binnen onderwijs, onderzoek en bedrijfsvoering te bewerkstelligen. In het bijzonder:
- opleidingsmanagers
- docenten en onderzoekers van ICT-opleidingen
- studenten
- managers facilitair en inkoop
- onderzoekers en betrokkenen bij topsectoren

Circulair is het hoofdthema van NDDHO18. Waarom? Het huidige lineaire productiesysteem zal moeten veranderen in een herstellend en vernieuwend systeem, waarin producten en materialen waardevol blijven voor hergebruik. Wat betekent circulariteit voor:
- ontwerp, productie, gebruik en afvoer?
- ICT-apparatuur met kostbare grondstoffen?
- onderwijsgebouwen: nieuwbouw en renovatie?
- smart cities en energie?
- onderwijs en onderzoek, overheid en bedrijfsleven?
- (keten)samenwerking?
- waardebehoud of zelfs waardevermeerdering?
- toekomstige generatie(s) – en dus onze studenten?
