Circle Lab

Circle Lab is an online platform for cities, businesses, and citizens to explore, brainstorm, and implement circular business models and strategies to tackle universal and local challenges. By digitising knowledge, opening up access, and encouraging co-creation, we aim to break down information silos and fuel cross-industry collaboration and innovation. The circular economy has the potential to change the world, and we believe the time to bring the concept to the kitchen table – so that everyone, from entrepreneurs to big brands, can play a role in making it a reality – is now.

  • If you are interested in participating in one of our challenges register on the platform at www.circle-lab.com
  • If you would like to provide content for our knowledge hub or are interested in placing a challenge on the platform please email us at hello@circle-lab.com

What is the goal of the project?

We believe that the circular economy has the potential to change the world and the time is now to bring the concept to the kitchen table so that everyone, from entrepreneurs to big brands can, play a role in making it a reality.

What is the result of the project?

Through an online, open content, co-creation platform, we are breaking down information silos and fueling cross-industry collaboration and innovation to turn intent into action. Circle Lab aims to mobilise a global community of cities, businesses, and citizens to tackle universal challenges by exploring, brainstorming, and implementing circular business models, strategies, and solutions in order to tackle universal challenges.

Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?

Circle Lab has been conceptualised, developed and implemented by Amsterdam based social enterprise Circle Economy and has been made possible in part by a grant from the eBay Foundation, a corporate advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

What is the next step?

Since the platform's launch on 19 March, 2018 we plan to continue to grow our knowledge hub with new and inspiring content, engage a global community to develop solutions to our online challenges initiated by companies and cities worldwide, implement the solutions that emerge from these challenges and share learnings from the implementation process with the Circle Lab's online community.

What can other cities learn from your project?

Cities can engage with their citizens in order to ignite a collective transition to the circular economy by posing challenges and gain insights into other cities' solution implementation processes.
