Gemeente Amsterdam start eigen beacon netwerk

De gemeente Amsterdam roept ontwikkelaars op om slimme navigatiediensten te ontwikkelen op basis van beacons (bakens). Beacons zijn kleine zendertjes die op een specifieke locatie informatie en signalen kunnen versturen naar smartphones die in de buurt zijn. Dat gebeurt via Bluetooth. Iemand die slechtziend is en naar de metro loopt, kan via een beacon bijvoorbeeld stap voor stap op zijn telefoon audio-informatie krijgen hoe hij bij het perron komt. Reizigers kunnen worden gewaarschuwd als ze bij een verkeerde halte staan of dat ze de volgende halte moeten uitstappen. Maar ook kan het beacon-netwerk worden ingezet om bezoekers van de stad informatie te geven over de geschiedenis en architectuur van de gebouwen om hen heen.

The CLASS 2016 Conference intends to have a strong networking focus offering especially to small businesses and SMEs the possibility to present their work, through exhibition and networking facilities.

The CLASS 2016 Conference will get together stakeholders from smart research and innovation fields in the region including, but not limited to Smart Cities, Smart Energy, Intelligent Transport Systems, Advanced Manufacturing and eHealth.
The European Cloud Initiative – Building a competitive data and knowledge economy in Europe aims to strengthen the Europe's position in data-driven innovation, improve the competitiveness of EU countries and regions to create a Digital Single Market in Europe.
The CLASS event in particular investigates the strengths and weaknesses of the individual countries and their industrial and academic bodies and how the countries in Europe can collaborate to work towards a unified future Internet vision together, how individual parties can contribute and - more importantly - how they can benefit from such a collaboration.
The event will bring together experts from industry and academia with users and providers to present their results and elaborate their needs and their offerings - it therefore equally allows participants to promote results and products, as well as to exchange knowledge and initiate collaborations. The conference will allow for dedicated presentations and matchmaking like workshops.
CLASS is soliciting submissions for position papers and regular research papers to be presented during the event. Post-proceedings for the most quality contributions will be organized in the International Journal of Computing and Informatics Informatica.

Contribute to the EU-Brazil Policy Dialogue in ICT

You are still in time to showcase your groundbreaking research in ICT at the WCN and Cloudscape Brazil 2016 workshops.
Deadline extended until 30 June!

EUBrasilCloudFORUM is collecting position papers from all stakeholders interested in the Workshop on Cloud Networks and Cloudscape Brazil 2016 (6-7 July, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil), the forum for EU-BR Co-operation on ICT: http://eubrasilcloudforum.eu/wcn-cloudscape-brazil-2016-csbc-2016-porto-alegre-rs-brasil

Position papers will be used to draft a research Roadmap on cloud computing, identifying collaboration needs and opportunities between Europe and Brazil for the European Commission and to the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI), contributing to the definition of future cooperation priorities between the two regions. Position Papers will be the basis of a White Paper to be submitted to the EC and MCTI before the EU-Brazil Policy Dialogues in ICT in November 2016.

By involving high-level EU and Brazilian opinion leaders, EUBrasilCloudFORUM will map the current regulatory frameworks in Europe and Brazil to support EU and Brazilian governments and funding agencies in the development of a joint ICT market for the benefit of IT providers, IT companies, research institutes as well as citizens. The EUBrasilCloudFORUM Roadmap will contribute to review new methods and processes, and to map which new technologies can ensure not only security but also interoperability between different private and public clouds, which will provide the future IT infrastructure and applications.Cloudscape Brazil 2016 is organized by EUBrasilCloudFORUM together with the Workshop on Cloud Networks (WCN) in the frame of the annual Conference of the Brazilian Computing Society (CSBC), 4-7 July 2016.
