Save the date 30 september 2016 – Business innovation for IT: the business case of the Internet of Things

Het volgende decennium gaat over een data driven economy. Het Internet of Things (IoT) zal een van de belangrijkste aanjagers zijn van deze ontwikkeling. Technologie en infrastructuur zijn de laatste jaren uitgekristalliseerd. Voor veelorganisaties is het nu zaak om te kijken hoe aan deze ontwikkeling mee te doen en de business case te vinden.

We gaan nadrukkelijk kijken wat IoT kan brengen in productieprocessen, marketing,kritische infrastructuur, smart cities, logistiek en enterprise mobility. Maar ook vooral wat zijn de ins en outs voor IT Executives?

Rondom dit thema organiseert CIONET samen met haar zuster community ITWNET (voorIT professionals) een conferentie “InterTheThings”. Het CIONET community event zal – exclusief voor CIONET leden – als subsessie tijdens deze conferentie plaatsvinden. Het programma wordt opgebouwd rondom real life cases en experiences van Internet of Things voor IT Executives.

Eenbusiness case maken met smart systems blijkt nog niet eenvoudig, maar toch zal elke organisatie moeten gaan innoveren en co-creatief moeten zoeken op nieuween onbekende terreinen.

I would like to do my thesis about smart cities: how it is the best solution for every city and spread the idea everywhere.

I am at the end of my career as a engineer student and I am looking for a project that really interested me.

My studies cover all thr area around energy, sustainable technology. However the main skills that I'm shod are:

- design Zero Energy Building; - Analysis of the supply grid operator of small and medium-sized areas ;

- Design of electric vehicles with the most innovative technologies in today's market ;

- Waste material treatment and management.

I would like to be involved in a project in those areas to increase my knowledge and capability, because in the next years I would find myself as an active participant.

Wat is Aspire4Sport

The Government of India has identified 100 cities in the country to be developed as Smart Cities that are intended to be emulated by the Urban Local Bodies across rest of the country. 20 Cities have been identified in the first phase and SPVs are already in place. This is the high time to get into alliances to start promoting concepts and building relationships with different stakeholders interested in Smart Cities market in India.

The City of Esfahan is organizing a conference on smart city issue from 17 till the 23h of september 2016.

This is an open Call for Papers inviting researchers, and solutions and services providers to present their works in the above mentioned areas. The CLASS 2016 Conference intends to have a strong networking focus offering especially to small businesses and SMEs the possibility to present their work, through exhibition and networking facilities.

The CLASS 2016 Conference will get together stakeholders from smart research and innovation fields in the region including, but not limited to Smart Cities, Smart Energy, Intelligent Transport Systems, Advanced Manufacturing and eHealth.
The European Cloud Initiative – Building a competitive data and knowledge economy in Europe aims to strengthen the Europe's position in data-driven innovation, improve the competitiveness of EU countries and regions to create a Digital Single Market in Europe.
The CLASS event in particular investigates the strengths and weaknesses of the individual countries and their industrial and academic bodies and how the countries in Europe can collaborate to work towards a unified future Internet vision together, how individual parties can contribute and - more importantly - how they can benefit from such a collaboration.
The event will bring together experts from industry and academia with users and providers to present their results and elaborate their needs and their offerings - it therefore equally allows participants to promote results and products, as well as to exchange knowledge and initiate collaborations. The conference will allow for dedicated presentations and matchmaking like workshops.
CLASS is soliciting submissions for position papers and regular research papers to be presented during the event. Post-proceedings for the most quality contributions will be organized in the International Journal of Computing and Informatics Informatica.

Hoeveel energie gebruiken Cloud omgevingen en cloudapplicaties? In hoeverre verschilt het energieverbruik van diverse encryptietechnieken? Hoeveel besparingen levert een zuinige applicatie op? Dergelijk vragen staan centraal bij het Greening the Cloud Congres op 7 juli a.s.

De ICT-industrie flinke stappen heeft gemaakt met onder meer zuinige hardware en innovatieve koeling. Maar er liggen nieuwe kansen om aanvullende energiebesparing te realiseren met slimme en zuinige software. In het project ‘Greening the Cloud’ hebben publieke en private partijen de afgelopen twee jaar samen onderzoek gedaan naar hoe de Cloud zuiniger kan worden ontwikkeld.In het project zijn diverse energieprestatie-experimenten uitgevoerd onder meer op het gebied van hypervisors, encryptietechnologie, containers en website-platforms, met als doel praktische handvatten te ontwikkelen voor bijvoorbeeld hosting providers en software ontwikkelaars om slimmere keuzes te kunnen maken.

Op 7 juli worden resultaten van dit onderzoek kort en krachtig gepresenteerd. De partners en deelnemers van Greening the Cloud nodigen u van harte uit hierbij aanwezig te zijn. Op het programma staan de resultaten van het onderzoek, met aandacht voorde experimenten en uitgevoerde case studieseen GreenCloud model en kostencalculator fysieke meetfaciliteiten waar industrie en academici metingen kunnen doen aan software en Cloud.

Position papers will be used to draft a research Roadmap on cloud computing, identifying collaboration needs and opportunities between Europe and Brazil for the European Commission and to the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI), contributing to the definition of future cooperation priorities between the two regions. Position Papers will be the basis of a White Paper to be submitted to the EC and MCTI before the EU-Brazil Policy Dialogues in ICT in November 2016.

The website Amsterdam City Data and the website of Research, Information and Statistics (OIS) have been merged under the name Data en informatie (Data and information), with the url data.amsterdam.nl. The advantages of the merging are:

- topical data, statistics and research are coherently presented
- quick and new ways can be developed to make visual and interactive presentations of data and information

You will find data sources from researches which will be shown in the form of tables, factsheets, dashboards, animations and reports. As well as datasets and topical data from, among other sources, municipal records databases.
You can easily search for all these data and have them shown in a map, download them as a data set, or link them automatically to your own system via a so-called ‘web service’ or API.

The buttons in the green square on the user interface give access to maps, the panorama viewer and the data catalogue.

Under the moniker ‘In beeld’ (‘In pictures’) we present data and research results interactively and visually as animations, dashboards and data stories, among other formats.

The menu offers help while using these functionalities.

The data portal is for anyone who is looking for reliable and up-to-date information about the city. For Amsterdam’s public officials who want to make the right decisions and civil servants who want to work effectively. But also for civilians, researchers and journalists who are looking for facts. Data en informatie is openly accessible and data that is public can be freely used by anyone. Some of the data are available to authorized city employees only.
