BouwLab R&Do biedt via de Smart Makers Academy een volledig verzorgde cursusdag aan, waarop je kennismaakt met nieuwe technologie in de bouw en leert hoe jij dit kunt toepassen. Ontdek hoe nieuwe technologieën zoals Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D-printing en robotica jouw bedrijf vooruit kunnen brengen.

Artificial Intelligence komt steeds vaker voor in het bedrijfsleven. Tijdens deze dag vertellen we je over allerlei mogelijke toepassingen van AI. Bijvoorbeeld hoe het kan helpen bij het schrijven van tenders? Hoe bespaar je tijd met parametrische ontwerpsoftware? En hoe kun je drones inzetten op jouw bouwplaats?

Machineonderdelen, bouwmaterialen en zelfs hele gebouwen: als je het kunt bedenken, kun je het printen! We nemen je mee in de wereld van 3D printing. Met welke materialen kun je printen? Wat is hiervoor nodig? We leren je hoe je snel en laagdrempelig aan de slag kunt met 3D-printing technologie.

Ook onderzoeken we de kansen van het gebruik van robotica in de bouw. Wat voor verschillende robots en cobots zijn er? En voor welke taken kun je ze inzetten? Denk bijvoorbeeld aan het automatisering van bouwprocessen, het uitvoeren van repetitieve taken en het verhogen van de veiligheid op de bouwplaats. Hoe integreer je robots in jouw werk? En hoe train je personeel om met deze nieuwe technologieën te werken?

Amsterdam UMC, OLVG en het Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL) gaan elkaars medische data gepseudonimiseerd hergebruiken in Health Data Space Amsterdam.

HDSA is een geheel nieuwe, regionale zorgdata-infrastructuur. Deze ondersteunt patiëntenzorg en medisch wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar gezondheid en preventie. Met als doel: gezondheidsverschillen in de regio te verkleinen en de gezondheidszorg toegankelijk te houden.

Het initiatief van de drie Amsterdamse ziekenhuizen komt voort uit een bredere samenwerking met de Universiteit van Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Gemeente Amsterdam, Amsterdam Economic Board en Philips. Verder trekken de ziekenhuizen nauw op met Amsterdam AI, het Amsterdamse samenwerkingsverband voor kunstmatige intelligentie, en Health-RI, dat zich inzet voor een landelijke geïntegreerde gezondheidsdata-infrastructuur voor onderzoek, beleid en innovatie.

HDSA faciliteert met deze betere en snellere uitwisseling van zorgdata wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar gezondheid, beter medisch inzicht in hoe mensen langdurig gezond kunnen blijven, gepersonaliseerde preventie en behandeling van ziekten. De samenwerking is een eerste stap in de aansluiting op (een nog te bouwen) nationale infrastructuur vanuit het Integraal Zorgakkoord (IZA) en een Europese samenwerking via het European Health Data Space (EHDS).

A smart city is made out of connected objects. Sometimes we buy already-made "smart" objects, but it's also possible (...and really quite easy indeed) to make them ourselves.

In this hands-on workshop we’ll quickly cover the basics of microcontrollers and then we’ll work together to create your very own interactive object. It’ll even be able to connect to the Internet!

Specifically, we’ll be focusing on making a motion-activated light component. With your learnings you’ll easily be able to take the next steps to using other real-world inputs to invoke other real-world outputs.

With your ticket (€50-) you’ll get your own electronic components set (to take home with you after the workshop) and together we’ll hook them up to your computer and program them. This includes an ESP32 microcontroller, a PIR motion sensor, LED lights and all required jumper and USB cables.

Absolute beginners are more than welcome! This workshop will involve some basic programming, and if you don’t have any experience or this sounds intimidating, rest assured that you won’t need to write any code yourself and you can simple copy paste your way to interactivity.

Heb of ken jij een vernieuwend initiatief op het gebied van toegepaste Artificiële Intelligentie? Nomineer deze toepassing dan voor de Dutch Applied AI Award!

Het is dit jaar voor de vijfde keer dat deze juryprijs tijdens de jaarlijkse Computable Awards wordt uitgereikt. Sinds 2020 beloont het Centre of Expertise Applied AI van de Hogeschool van Amsterdam samen met ICT-platform Computable en podcast De Dataloog een innovatieve AI-toepassing.

Daarbij beoordeelt de jury - bestaande uit vijf experts op het gebied van Applied AI - alle inzendingen op drie criteria:

• Applied AI - in hoeverre is de oplossing al geïmplementeerd, wordt het gebruikt door de beoogde doelgroep en hoe groot is het aantal (potentiële) klanten/het aantal mensen dat met deze innovatie direct of indirect wordt geholpen.
• Uniekheid - in hoeverre is de innovatie de enige in haar soort, is het nooit eerder op de markt gebracht en kan het doel van de innovatie niet op een andere manier worden behaald.
• Responsible AI (transparantie, privacy, fairness, etc.) - in hoeverre is het ontworpen of gebruikte AI-algoritme transparant. Stelt het de gebruiker in staat om verantwoording af te leggen en duidelijk te zijn over de factoren die de algoritmische beslissingen beïnvloeden.

Uit alle inzendingen maakt de jury een top 3. De top 3 wordt op dinsdag 12 november uitgenodigd op de Hogeschool van Amsterdam om zijn innovatieve AI-toepassing te pitchen. De winnaar wordt op donderdag 28 november verkozen tijdens de uitreiking van de Computable Awards in de Jaarbeurs Utrecht.

Duits-Nederlandse samenwerking
Steeds meer infrastructuur en mobiliteit worden gedigitaliseerd. Steden richten zich in toenemende mate op een positieve leefomgeving, waarin innovatieve en slimme oplossingen een grote rol spelen. De Bundesverband Smart City roept Duitse en Nederlandse bedrijven op hun krachten te bundelen en de ontwikkeling van een Europese Smart City Standard te ondersteunen.

Nederland staat bekend om vooruitstrevende projecten op het gebied van slimme steden en intelligente mobiliteit, maar ook Duitsland heeft veel te bieden. Mede dankzij het Smart City made in Germany programma zijn zes Duitse steden opgenomen in de Smart City Index van 2023; Nederland werd vertegenwoordigd door drie steden. Vooral op het gebied van sensortechnologie scoort Duitsland hoog dankzij de strenge regelgeving voor gegevensbescherming. Hierdoor zijn de innovatieve technologieën ook in het buitenland met slechts minimale aanpassingen inzetbaar.

Van scanauto’s tot  beveiligingscamera’s, in stadsontwikkeling wordt computer vision technologie op allerlei manieren ingezet in de openbare ruimte. Het inzetten van zulke technologie leidt tot allerlei uitdagingen op gebied van het inbouwen van publieke waarden. Neem bijvoorbeeld de scanauto, deze wordt vooral ingezet om parkeerovertredingen te detecteren. Technisch gezien is het ook mogelijk om andere dingen te 'scannen', zoals zwerfafval, kadebelasting of groepsvorming. Maar willen we dat wel? 

Wanneer de gemeente besluit om computer vision technologie in te zetten, gaat dat vaak via een aanbestedingsproces. De gemeente publiceert een opdracht waar organisaties en bedrijven zich kunnen inschrijven. Waag heeft het aanbestedingsproces in kaart gebracht en onderzoekt op welke momenten burgers betrokken kunnen worden. Tijdens deze workshop delen we de eerste inzichten en gaan we samen met de deelnemers op zoek naar best practices, tips en tools voor het vergroten van de maatschappelijke waarde van aanbestedingen. In this workshop we will look at unwanted consequences, based on two existing urban technologies: a parking scan car service and an online reporting platform for local issues. The term 'self-driving car' is used for a wide variety of technical support systems for car drivers. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has distinguished six types, as mentioned in the tabel above. This classification is recognized worldwide.

At SAE level 0, a car has been equipped with various warning systems, such as unvoluntary deviation from lane, traffic in the blind spot, and emergency braking.

At SEA levels 1 and 2, cars can steer independently or/and adjust their speed in specific conditions on motorways. Whether drivers are allowed to take their hands from the steering wheel depends on national law. That is certainly not the case in Europe. As soon as environmental conditions make steering and acceleration more complex, for example after turning onto a busy street, the driver must immediately take over the steering.

A properly functioning SAE Level 3 system allows drivers to take their eyes off the road and focus on other activities. They must sit behind the wheel and be on standby and are always held responsible for driving the car. They must immediately take over control of the car as soon as 'the system' gives a ('disengagement') signal, which means that it can no longer handle the situation. There is currently no car worldwide that is accredited at SEA-3 level.

This level of control is not sufficient for driverless taxi services. Automotive and technology companies such as General Moters and Alphabet have been working hard to meet the requirements of the higher levels (SAE 4). Their expensive cars (up to $250,000) have automated backups, meaning they can handle any situation under specified conditions, such as well-designed roads, during the day and at a certain speed. Under these circumstances, no driver is required to be present.

SAE Level 5 automation can operate without a driver in all conditions. There is currently no vehicle that meets this requirement.

The variety of options in this classification explains why the term 'self-driving car' should not be used. Cars classified at SAE level 1 and 2 can best be called 'automated cars' and cars from SAE level 3 onwards can be called autonomous cars.

The state of California introduced new rules in 2019 that allow cars at SAE 4 level to participate in traffic. Very strict conditions apply to this. As a result, Alphabet (Waymo) and General Motors (Cruise) have been allowed to launch driverless taxi services. All rides are monitored with cameras to prevent reckless behavior or vandalism.

CULTUURVERANDERING IN DE BOUW

Binnen de bouw zal men in de toekomst anders moeten gaan werken vanwege de maatschappelijke opgaven als duurzaamheid, klimaat en het arbeidstekort. De bouw zal (meer) moeten leren werken met alle digitale mogelijkheden die er zijn en aankomen. Dat vereist een andere cultuur van samenwerken. Zowel binnen het bedrijf als in de keten.

Ook het tekort aan personeel zorgt ervoor dat anders zal moeten worden omgegaan met personeel. Bedrijven zullen inclusiever moeten worden, zullen ook te maken krijgen met zij-instromers en ook hier zal digitalisering ervoor zorgen dat meer gedaan kan worden met minder mensen. Dr. ir. Koos Johannes, onderzoeker cultuur & ketensamenwerking bij de HVA zal tijdens het diner zijn inzichten delen over de Cultuurverandering in de bouw. Wanneer en waar?
De workshop bestaat uit drie sessies of “stations”, verspreid over drie middagen van 14:00 – 17:00 uur:

• De mogelijkheden van robotica – 6 december 2023
  Een kennismaking met de wereld van robotica. Wat is jouw rol hierin? Hoe kan robotica jou ondersteunen in jouw werk?
• Robotica in de praktijk – 17 januari 2024
  We behandelen business cases uit de praktijk en kijken naar live demo’s van experts. Welke best practices zijn er? Wat zijn de mogelijkheden voor jou en jouw bedrijf?
• De waarde van robotica - 28 februari 2024
  Maak een business case onder begeleiding van experts. Samen met andere professionals werk je een business case uit voor jouw bedrijf. Aan het eind van middag pitch je jouw plan.

 
Wij begrijpen dat robotisering een grote stap kan zijn, maar de voordelen zijn aanzienlijk. Het is nu een uitgelezen moment om te onderzoeken hoe uw bedrijf waardevolle vooruitgang in de maakindustrie kan realiseren. Wacht niet langer om de kracht van robotica te omarmen! 

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Ericsson is very pleased to invite you and your business relations to the exciting Swedish Chamber of Commerce Tech for Good – 5G Impact on Sustainability, which will be hosted by Ericsson on November 7, 2023, at the 5G Hub at High Tech Campus Eindhoven.
The digital transformation is an important enabler for companies to become more sustainable: when business processes become more efficient, companies will be able to save energy and/or reduce CO2 emissions. 5G plays a key role in the digital transformation. This is demonstrated at the 5G-Hub in Eindhoven, a joint initiative of Ericsson, Vodafone-Ziggo, Brainport Eindhoven, and High Tech Campus. The 5G hub was established to promote innovation and stimulate solutions that help improve sustainability.

This event is offered free of charge, registration is however, compulsory.

Are you a concerned smart citizen, or smart city innovator? This workshop is for you! Tom van Arman, from TAPP - Smart City Architecture will guide you through the many legal, technical and even spatial considerations that you'll need to know about before deploying sensors in public space. Participants will go on a real-world Sensor Safari to discover the many devices in their natural habitat. Finally, roll up your sleeves and work together in a ‘Sensing Dilemma Workshop’ where we will field test some sensing projects to see how it can help (or harm) our future city! The workshop will take place on the Marineterrein, an inner-city test ground for a sustainable living environment.
Ethics in smart city technology is not something you assess at one specific point in time in a tech's lifecycle and then can forget about it. In the project Human Values for Smarter Cities, researchers, designers, civil servants (The Hague, Rotterdam and Amsterdam), and citizens look for ways ethical principles can be interwoven in the articulation, making, deployment and adjustment of smart city technology.
