Swap till you drop

Je kent het vast wel: je kledingkast puilt uit en toch heb je niets om aan te trekken. Vaak kun je anderen blij maken met jouw kleren – en anderen jou. Dus verzamel de kleding die jij niet meer draagt en kom naar de kledingruil in De Studio van NEMO. Onder het genot van een drankje ruil je de leukste jurken, truien en shirts. Goed voor je garderobe, én voor het klimaat. Je ontvangt van ons de eerste 2 drankjes helemaal gratis!

Hoe het werkt

Neem max 7 stuks kleding mee. Voor deze items krijg je punten, die je weer in kan wisselen voor nieuwe kleding. Let op: items met mankementen zoals vlekken, gaten of pillen komen niet in aanmerking voor een ruil. Wij zorgen voor een startvoorraad, zodat ook de eerste bezoekers al lekker veel keus hebben.

Locatie & tijd

De kledingruil start om 19.00 uur en duurt ongeveer 3 uur. Tijdens de workshop kun je ook de tentoonstelling Energy Junkies bezoeken.

Een hoopvolle toekomst

Klimaatverandering is de grootste bedreiging van het leven op aarde. Het is dan ook logisch dat de gevolgen soms zorgen voor een pessimistisch gevoel. En hoe meer je je in het onderwerp verdiept, des te sterker dat gevoel kan worden. In deze lezing legt Ruben Jacobs uit hoe we zover zijn gekomen en waar onze verantwoordelijkheid ligt. Maar hij vertelt vooral over hoop in tijden van klimaatverandering en welk verhaal we onze kinderen straks kunnen vertellen.

Eerste hulp bij klimaatstress

Na twee zomers kamperen in je tentje in Nederland wil je eindelijk weer eens op een verre vliegvakantie. Maar je schaamt je om het aan anderen te vertellen. Wil je lang douchen, maar vindt jouw partner dat niet goed voor het milieu? Twijfel jij ook weleens aan wat je nou echt kan doen voor een beter klimaat en ben je daar soms gestrest over? Of valt het in jouw ogen allemaal wel mee? In de inspiratiesessie Eerste hulp bij klimaatstress gaan we in gesprek over persoonlijke ervaringen met klimaatverandering. Houd je hoofd koel en ontdek samen met expert Jeanine Pothuizen hoe je het beste omgaat met emoties rondom het klimaat.

Hoe kan het dat de plek waar je geboren bent bepaalt hoeveel je lijdt onder klimaatverandering? De gevolgen van klimaatverandering treffen iedereen op een andere manier. De vergroening van Nederland kan bijvoorbeeld zorgen voor vervuiling elders ter wereld. En gezinnen met een hoger inkomen kunnen zich vaak beter beschermen tegen de negatieve effecten van milieuvervuiling, bijvoorbeeld door luchtfilters aan te schaffen. Daphina Misiedjan (universitair docent, jurist en onderzoeker ISS/Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam) legt in deze lezing uit dat klimaatongelijkheid een wereldwijd probleem is dat op alle niveaus zichtbaar is en wat we kunnen doen om de kloof in te perken.

I am Kyaw Nyunt Linn, currently working on my masters thesis in MSc. Urban Management and Development (UMD) at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The aim of this survey is to explore the attitudes towards decentralised energy systems at the community level and understand how prosumerism and demand response can be realised in the energy transition of the Netherlands. The results of this research may be used to guide policy makers and local energy initiatives in developing their communities and activities regarding the transition of renewable energy at the community level.

Summer is my favourite season in Amsterdam! There are so many things to do, it’s sometimes hard to choose where to go. To make your lives a bit easier, I curated a list of smart city  exhibitions, activities and experiences from our partners and community. Zigzag across the city and experience the future of the energy systems, water management and food in urban areas. Enjoy!

1. Energy Junkies exhibition  at Nemo The Studio
Our  dependence on fossil fuels and the effects of our energy consumption on climate change are the focus of NEMO’s new exhibition for adults: Energy Junkies. NEMO invites you to explore the decisions that will determine our future. How would you transform our energy addiction into a healthy habit? Create your own carbon diet, choose the right medicines from the climate pharmacy and dream about a world where we are cured of our energy addiction. Visit Energy Junkies at NEMO’s Studio, the off-site location for adults on the Marineterrein in Amsterdam.
 
Energy Junkies is open from Wednesday – Sunday, from 12:00 – 17:30 until July 2023. Costs are € 7,50

2. Interactive installation Senses of Amsterdam at OBA Slotermeer
The municipality of Amsterdam is using more and more new technologies to make the city more liveable and safe. But what do these sensors actually measure? And what happens with the data they collect? What does this mean for the people of Amsterdam? The installation Senses of Amsterdam informs visitors about how sensors make Amsterdam a smarter city, what measurements are taken and how data is collected. The interactive installation by the Responsible Sensing Lab  is currently exhibited at the public library (OBA) in Slotermeer.

3. Study excursion about trends and innovations in Amsterdam’s cycling infrastructure
Yes, the Dutch and their bikes are inseparable! And Amsterdam is often cited as the cycling capital of the world. Are you interested in how Amsterdam is innovating in the areas of cycling and urban mobility? Join the study excursion organised by the Urban Cycling Institute and Bicycle User Experience (BUX). The two-hour excursion (by bicycle, of course!) brings you to key  locations exemplifying Amsterdam’s innovative approach to cycling infrastructure and policy. You will meet internationally-oriented cycling experts and become part of a larger network of  the Urban Cycling Institute and Bicycle User Experience (BUX).
 
The study excursions take place on Saturdays, August 13, 20 and 27 from 16:00 – 18:00. Costs are € 50,00 per person.

4. Exhibition Fluid Matter in the Architecture Centre of Amsterdam (ARCAM)
The Amsterdam water system regulates water levels and quality in one of Europe’s  most densely populated areas. Due to the urban growth and climate change, the system will be increasingly strained in the future. This means that different design choices have to be made, but this situation also offers opportunities for new ways of dealing with water. What choices do we have? How can we design with the water? In the interactive exhibition Fluid Matter, you will discover this complex water system through scale models of four urban districts of Amsterdam: Houthavens/Haven-Stad, North/Schoonschip, City Centre/Kattenburg and IJburg/IJmeer.

Visit the Exhibition Fluid Matter from Tuesday – Sunday (13:00-17:00) until November 2022. Costs are € 4,00.

5. Johan Cruijff ArenA Innovation Tour
Take a tour into the world of innovations at the Johan Cruijff ArenA!  With thousands of visitors during large events, the home of Ajax becomes a small smart city. Already recognized as one of the most sustainable stadiums in the world, the Johan Cruijff ArenA is also one of Amsterdam’s premier living labs for energy, mobility, security, and visitor experience innovations.  The Johan Cruijff ArenA offers private tours showcasing innovative approaches and solutions for the stadium of tomorrow, ideal for team building events and (inter)national delegation visits.

The Johan Cruijff ArenA’s Innovation Tours last ~45minutes and can be booked by sending a request to tour@johancruijffarena.nl with “Innovation Tour” in the subject line. Costs are €24,38 excl. VAT per person, with minimum of 20 persons per group.

6. Floriade Expo 2022, Almere      
Once every ten years, all the horticultural greats gather during the Floriade. Experts from all over the world come together to present green solutions that make our cities more enjoyable, beautiful and sustainable. With the theme of ‘Growing Green Cities’, more than 400 national and international participants showcase their latest green innovations, solutions and applications. From state-of-the-art solar roof tiles to amazing vertical façade gardens and from the best ways to grow tomatoes to the latest pruning techniques. You can see, taste and experience it all at Floriade in Almere.

7. Exhibition Makers of Noord by Waag
From large goods to small workshops, makers have always been an important part of Amsterdam Noord. Scattered throughout the district you will find individual makers and collectives, craftsmen and creative entrepreneurs. Their future in the city is under pressure, partly due to gentrification. On the other hand, the city heavily depends on these makers to cope with the energy transition and the enormous demand for housing. The good news is that many makers are still located in Amsterdam, and in particular in Noord. Who are these makers of Noord, what do they make, and how does this contribute to the city, the neighbourhood, and our lives? Get to know different makers from Noord and listen to their inspiring stories about re-use, sustainability and traditional craftsmanship.
 
The Makers of Noord exhibition can be visited in Museum Amsterdam Noord from Thursday – Sunday from 13:00 – 17:00 until August 27. Costs are €4,00.

For the sixteenth edition of our Demo Days, we were finally able to meet offline again since the start of the pandemic. This meant: old-school post-its instead of filling online Miro boards. The Mobility & Energy Demo Day was hosted at one of our partners’ locations, namely Commandant’s Residence at the Marineterrein. Demo Day: Mobility & Energy

CO2 neutral transport to the Johan Cruijff ArenA in 2023 - Boen Groothof and Susanne van Gelder (municipality of Amsterdam)
How can we make CO2 neutral transport to any event in the Johan Cruijff ArenA possible by 2030? This is what the participants of the Mobility Challenge want to figure out. The participants voiced what their organisation wants to contribute to the challenge, and also expressed what they expect from each other. The next step is for all the parties to internally concretize their role within the challenge even further, to make CO2 neutral travelling to events in the Johan Cruijff ArenA possibly by 2030.

A sustainable energy system for business park De Vaart – Anke Delfos (municipality of Almere)
How to make the energy system of business park de Vaart in Almere more sustainable? This was the central question of the work session led by Anke Delfos. The participants concluded that a start could be made with the 'coalition of the willing' and identifying the front runners. The companies that are already enthusiastic can form a vanguard that can actively think along in the new developments. An analysis can be made of the measures that the companies are willing to take individually or collectively. This may lead to collaborations between organizations. The municipality will then also gain insight into which solutions will actually help to generate more energy and meet the increasing demand for energy. In a later phase, the vanguard can also inspire and motivate other companies to take action.

Measuring objectives for urban mobility - Susanne Balm (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences), Marcel Ludeman (municipality of Amsterdam), Lisa van Velzen (Delft University of Technology)
The municipality of Amsterdam, Facility Services UvA-HvA and the HvA Lectureship City Logistics are working on a logistics research in the University Quarter of Amsterdam. This area is located in the city centre and is used by many stakeholders such as inhabitants, students, and visitors. The goal of the study is to design and evaluate logistical concepts for the University Quarter that are consistent with the objectives for liveability, accessibility and safety of this area. The question for the group: How can these objectives be operationalized and measured? The participants talked about the subjectivity of the objectives and how you can measure certain objectives, but also came up with concrete solutions. For example, providing information to stakeholders for more understanding and recognitions. One of the participants suggested a role-play to evaluate different solutions for smooth logistics in the area.

Hi everyone, I am Kyaw and currently studying master's in Urban Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change at Erasmus University Rotterdam. As I am currently doing my master thesis in Buiksloterham, I would like to conduct the interviewees with the residents and future residents of the district.

I would like to ask the questions about why the residents are using renewable energy systems in the existing households in that neighbourhoods and how they can communicate with their neighbour to increase the sense of community.

What are the Amsterdam Smart City Demo Days?
The Demo Days are one of the tools we use to stimulate innovation and encourage connection between our partners and community. The purpose of the Demo Days is to present the progress of various innovation projects to each other, ask for help, share dilemmas and involve more partners in a project to take these projects to the next level. In small groups we work on concrete questions.

We have created the Demo Days as a safe place for asking input from the network. A fresh perspective from another professional can be exactly what you need to move forward. You cannot work on a transition alone, which is why it’s important to involve others in your process. During these days, we also give the stage to community members to pitch projects and ask for input from our network.

That’s where you come in!
Not only are the Demo Days open for our community, but we offer you the opportunity to pitch your innovative initiative during the event. We want to involve our community more in the activities that we regularly organise, as you are an important part of the Amsterdam Smart City innovation ecosystem.

Het is oorlog in Oekraïne. Een oorlog die deels gefinancierd wordt met de opbrengst van de verkoop van fossiele brandstoffen aan het Westen – dus ook aan Nederland. Ruim 15% van het gas dat we verbruiken in Nederland komt uit Rusland. Als we samen een aantal eenvoudige besparingsstappen zetten, maken we ons energie-onafhankelijker. Benieuw hoe jouw organisatie minder last van de hoge energieprijzen kan hebben en haar duurzame doelen sneller bereikt?

Meer doen?

• Spread the word. Laat zien wat jouw organisatie doet om energie te besparen. Deel deze campagne én jouw acties op social media en websites.
• Besparen is verplicht. Grotere organisaties zijn verplicht om maatregelen te nemen waarvan vaststaat dat ze binnen 5 jaar terug te verdienen zijn. Dit zijn ook handige lijstjes voor kleinere organisaties: handhaaf de wet – tussen kolen & Parijs (urgenda.nl)  En kijk bij https://www.zetookdeknopom.nl/bedrijven.

Meer initiatieven

Om het doel van 15% minder gas te halen in 2022 zullen er meer campagnes en ondersteuning komen voor bewoners en bedrijven van een aantal samenwerkende partijen in de Metropoolregio Amsterdam (met o.a. Amsterdam Economic Board, Duurzaamheidsraad Amsterdam, gemeente Amsterdam, Green Business Club, Metropoolregio Amsterdam, 02025).

Do you know about initiatives, projects, groups that are working to decrease the cost of living of a Dutch household? Energy, rent, food, care, etc, all those field could be interesting for our research. Successful or less, is not important, I am looking for lessons learnt.

We are an innovation studio funded by PostNL and Dasym looking into Application of technology to increase disposable income in the household (also by unlocking the potential of the neighbourhood).

Wie zijn wij?
Amsterdam Smart City is een onafhankelijk innovatieplatform dat innovatieve bedrijven, kennisinstellingen, maatschappelijke organisaties, overheden en proactieve bewoners samenbrengt en de stad van de toekomst vormgeeft.

Dit doen wij met een netwerk van 27 partners die werken aan een betere, duurzame en toekomstbestendige wereld. Daarnaast hebben we een internationale community van meer dan 8000 pioniers en innovatie professionals die elkaar op de verschillende thema’s ontmoeten en verder helpen. Door al deze partijen te verbinden, en met hen het gesprek te voeren over de grote uitdagingen in onze regio, komen we tot innovatieve oplossingen die bijdragen aan betere straten, buurten en steden.

Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat de veranderingen die nodig zijn voor de vooruitgang van de stad en regio alleen gerealiseerd kunnen worden door samen te werken. Onze activiteiten zijn daarom gericht op het faciliteren van deze samenwerking, zodat partijen samen tastbare en duurzame innovaties tot stand kunnen brengen. Amsterdam Smart City richt zich met name op vier transitieopgaves: mobiliteit, de digitale stad, energie en circulaire economie.

Wat ga je doen?
Binnen het Amsterdam Smart City netwerk krijg jij glansrol in het realiseren van innovatie samenwerkingen. Dit doe je zowel als verbinder als aanjager. Als verbinder breng je onze diverse partners samen op verschillende onderwerpen binnen de thema’s Energie en Circulair. Je haalt op wat er speelt en probeert de behoeften, knelpunten, lopende initiatieven en potentiële oplossingen te vertalen tot een gezamenlijk en gedragen vraagstuk.

Vervolgens help jij als aanjager de partners verder om hier samen mee aan de slag te gaan. Daarvoor organiseer je verschillende soorten bijeenkomsten met onze partners, en mogelijk andere partijen. Deze bijeenkomsten stellen hen in staat om het vraagstuk stapsgewijs op te lossen. Jij ondersteunt het proces, mede vanuit je inhoudelijke kennis, zodanig dat de samenwerking daadwerkelijk tot concrete gezamenlijke resultaten leidt. Denk hierbij aan een innovatieve pilot, een onderzoek, een participatie traject of een reeks kennisbijeenkomsten waar de partners vervolgens mee verder gaan.

Taken

• Je onderhoudt en bouwt een netwerk van partners binnen de thema’s energie en circulaire economie; 
• Je verbindt, mobiliseert en activeert partners, communityleden en andere relevante stakeholders. Soms ook internationaal; 
• Je organiseert co-creatie sessies, workshops, en andere fysieke en online events die de partners in staat stellen om op complexe vraagstukken samen te werken; 
• Je helpt het team in hun voortgang op andere transitieopgaves, events en programmaonderdelen; 
• Je helpt bij de doorontwikkeling van onze innovatie-instrumenten en -processen om tot samenwerking te komen; 
• Je maakt inhoudelijke kennis en resultaten zoveel mogelijk zichtbaar, samen met het team.

Wie ben jij?
Wij zoeken een collega met een nieuwsgierige, onderzoekende instelling die anderen aanzet tot nadenken en actie. Gedreven in het creëren van maatschappelijke waarde en een echte aanpakkers mentaliteit. Iemand die in staat is de ideeën, kennis en ervaring van individuele partijen samen te brengen tot een geheel waar men gezamenlijk op voort kan bouwen.

• Opleiding of ervaring binnen tenminste een van de thema’s of binnen stedelijke innovatie in algemene zin; 
• Kennis van samenwerkingsprocessen en innovatiemethodieken; 
• Ervaring met het organiseren van bijeenkomsten en/of werksessies;
• Enthousiaste, open en bevlogen gesprekspartner; 
• Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal in woord en geschrift;
• Enkele jaren werkervaring; 
• WO/HBO werk- en denkniveau; 
• Een netwerk binnen ons werkveld is een pre!

Wat bieden wij?

Nieuwe tariefstructuren: een prikkel voor slimme sturing?
De netbeheerders pleiten voor een nieuwe tariefstructuur waarmee het voorkomen van piekbelasting beloond wordt. Dit is nodig wegens de toename van zonnepanelen, warmtepompen en laadpalen. Fons Jansen van Enexis gaat in plannen voor een bandbreedtemodel: binnen de bandbreedte kan je zonder extra kosten elektriciteit afnemen, kom je erboven dan betaal je een hoger nettarief.

Twee inspirerende Powerpitches:
Brendan de Graaf van Lyv biedt bedrijven, particulieren en communities geavanceerde energiediensten, waarmee men een financieel voordeel kan behalen en
overbelasting van het stroomnetwerk kan vermijden. Het bedrijf biedt een
combinatie van Software-as-a-Service oplossingen in combinatie en met
batterijsystemen.

Joost Brand van Borg Energy maakt duurzame warmte-opslag schaalbaar en haalbaar. Op dagen met een overvloed aan zonne- en windenergie slaan ze warmte op in een buffervat, om deze op dagen met weinig zon en wind te gebruiken. Het eerste werkende prototype is de grond in gegaan bij de Green Village.

Collectieve zelfconsumptie van zonne-energie?
Woningbezitters met een eigen dak kunnen zelf opgewekte zonne-energie salderen, terwijl huishoudens in bijvoorbeeld een appartementencomplex met een collectief dak deze voordelen niet hebben. Aliene van der Veen van TNO deed onderzoek naar
mogelijkheden om dit eerlijker te organiseren. Zij presenteert het rapport
“Collectieve zelfconsumptie: een bouwsteen om het maatschappelijk draagvlak
voor de energietransitie te vergroten?”.

Waarom nu versnellen
De verschrikkelijke oorlog in Oekraïne drukt ons pijnlijk met de neus op de
feiten: we zijn ontzettend afhankelijk geworden van (Russisch) gas en olie. De
klimaatcrisis dwong ons al om minder gas en olie te gebruiken maar deze oorlog
benadrukt nog eens extra hoe belangrijk dit is. Zo stijgen de energieprijzen hard met gevolgen voor de uitgaven van burgers, bedrijven en organisaties.

Wat gaan we 8 april doen
De bijeenkomst start met een korte terugkoppeling van de ideeën en afspraken
van 11 maart. Daarna gaan we concreet aan de slag in werkgroepen rondom een
aantal actiepunten. Aan het eind van de middag willen we graag als opbrengst
gecommitteerde werkgroepen hebben met regiehouders die zorgen voor verdere
opvolging op concrete acties. We proberen hierbij zoveel mogelijk aan te
sluiten bij bestaande overleggen en initiatieven. Meer informatie over het

Deze bijeenkomst is voor vertegenwoordigers van bedrijven, organisaties en
instellingen uit allerlei branches en domeinen. Om afspraken te kunnen maken op
8 april heeft het een sterke voorkeur dat u namens uw organisatie kunt spreken
en commitment kunt geven.

De stad Amsterdam groeit hard, de samenleving digitaliseert én we willen zo snel
mogelijk overstappen op duurzame energiebronnen. Deze factoren samen veroorzaken letterlijk spanningen op het elektriciteitsnet, onder andere in Amsterdam-West.

In het voorjaar van  2021 organiseerde de gemeente Amsterdam daarom samen met netbeheerder Liander een marktconsultatie. Het doel: creatieve en innovatieve ideeën ophalen om ons elektriciteitsnet zo flexibel, efficiënt en toekomstbestendig mogelijk te maken.

Hieronder vind je een greep uit de behaalde doelen en resultaten:
· Het bedrijfsleven denkt oplossingsgericht mee over de uitdagingen rondom de
elektriciteitsvoorziening
· Verkenning en inventarisatie van technieken die een bijdrage kunnen leveren aan het
versterken van ons elektriciteitsnet
· Inzicht in de laatste stand van zaken betreffende bekende technieken
· Update van actieve marktpartijen op het gebied van flexibiliteit

Vervolgstap: voorbereiding aanbestedingsproject
De marktconsultatie heeft er mede toe geleid dat netbeheerder Liander voldoende kansen en mogelijkheden ziet om de uitdagingen rondom de elektriciteitsvoorziening in Amsterdam-West succesvol aan te pakken. Het bedrijf is daarom gestart met de voorbereiding van een aanbestedingstraject.

Bijeenkomst aanbesteding Westhaven
In het verzorgingsgebied van verdeelstation Westhaven is sprake van congestie. Als tijdelijke oplossing zal Liander in dit gebied congestiemanagement toepassen totdat het netwerk verzwaard is. Om bestaande en nieuwe klanten, dienstverleners en marktpartijen te informeren over het oplossen van de congestieproblematiek en de aanstaande aanbesteding, organiseert Liander een informatiebijeenkomst.

The city of Amsterdam is growing fast, society is digitizing and there is an urgency to switch to sustainable energy sources as soon as possible. Together, these factors are pushing the electricity network to its limits, also in Amsterdam-West.

In the spring of 2021 the City of Amsterdam, together with grid manager Liander, organized a market survey. The aim was collecting creative and innovative ideas to make the electricity network in Amsterdam as flexible, efficient and future-proof as possible.

Below is a selection of the goals and results that were reached:
·   The business community agreed to think along solution-oriented lines about the challenges surrounding the electricity supply
·   An exploration and inventory of technologies that can contribute to strengthening our electricity network was made
· Insight into the latest state of affairs regarding known techniques was gathered
· An update of active market players in the field of flexibility was provided

Next step: preparation of the tender
One of the results of the market consultation was that grid manager Liander now sees sufficient opportunities and possibilities to successfully tackle the challenges surrounding the electricity supply in Amsterdam-West. The company has therefore started preparing a tender process.

Meeting about Westhaven tender
There is congestion in the catchment area of Westhaven distribution station. As a
temporary solution, Liander will apply congestion management in this area until
the network capacity is enhanced. Liander is organising a meeting to inform
existing and new customers, service providers and market parties about solving
the congestion problem and the upcoming tender process.
