The Next Web Conference

Featured image

In May 2017, 15,000 entrepreneurs, developers, marketing managers, CEOs and policymakers will visit Amsterdam, to share ideas and business cards in a setting that feels more like a Coachella for co-founders and coders than a conference. They're all looking to stay on top of the latest trends, meet their next client or partner, and connect with other people interested in the future of technology, innovation, marketing and imagination.

In a sequence of returning events frontrunners show how they build circular initiatives and make them thrive. Collaborating partners celebrate 'live 'Circular Commitments'to realise partnerships. Closing off with innovators pitching their ideas on a circular city with questions for the audience.

To close the loops of 9 selected organic stream chains and the recycling of products the Amsterdam Economic Board brings parties together for upscaling and creating business cases with enough volume and sales channels. By signing a Circular Commitment parties welcome initiatives to recycle products and bring organic streams back into the recycle circle in high quality as possible.

The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is full of circular initiatives leading to circular activity and innovation. The Amsterdam Economic Board initiates these initiatives in collaboration with municipalities, knowledge institutions and corporates.

Verleg uw grenzen naar Zuid-Duitsland!

Featured image

Vragen?

Heeft u nog vragen? Wij horen graag van u via events@innovationquarter.nl.

Meer informatie vindt u ook via: https://www.aanmelder.nl/handelsmissiezuidduitsland

Met vriendelijke groet,

Team Handelsmissie Zuid-Duitsland

Partners & Clients| To tackle urban design challenges in air, heat, water flow dynamics

Started in Delft, partnered with technical universities as TUE &TUD, involved in project with Den Haag Gemeente and international companies, we, CFD Alpha Tech, are a growing startup and currently looking for potential partners and clients for our service, Computational Fluid Dynamics to solve the challenges in Urban Design.

What kind of challenges?
With the technology and human capital in-house, we are able to create designs, analyze and evaluate in the field of flow dynamics, such as:

1. Air: A detailed of analysis on the quality of air and its flow dynamic through urban areas; the response of wind flow for building proposals or existing building dynamics;
2. Water: Analysis of rain water dynamics and evaluation on the flow routes.
3. Heat: Heat radiation patterns for building design; Urban Heat Island analysis and suggestions ( Urban Heat Island are areas in the city which are significantly higher than rural area due to human activity); Evaluation on outdoor setting to increase the indoor energy efficiency; Analysis whether the natural ventilation through a site is sufficient to mitigate heat and pollutant to achieve better human comfort in dense urban environment.
4. Ventilation Analysis: Analysis of various heating ventilation and air conditioning systems by inputting different diffuser types and locations, control schedules and supply air conditions.

What benefits does computational 3D modelling have in flow dynamics?
1. Time efficient
2. Possibility with different hypothetical scenario testing
3. Cost efficient
4. Accuracy

If you are interested, take a look on our website www.cfdalphatech.com. You can email me directly xjuan.zhang@gmx.com for inquiry. We wish all projects success for a more efficient economy, starting from Amsterdam!

Student Placement

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a post-graduate student in M. Sc. Global Sustainable Cities, coordinated by the Institute for Future Cities, at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.
I am very keenly interested in issues concerning a sustainable future in cities in order to enable a better quality of life. Considering that Amsterdam is often considered a role model for its liveability, I would be very interested in Amsterdam's solutions to urban issues and how these are transferred to other cities.
In our third term, in place of a traditional dissertation, we undertake two work-based placements that support our studies from the previous two terms and help us gain some real-world experience. Placements usually are about four weeks in length, but are very flexible according to each partner's needs or the project timeline. The placements are unpaid and I would be available to start from 17th of April. The intention is that for the partner, the student is able to assist in delivery of an activity or piece of research which adds value to you, whilst for the student the project is an opportunity to put knowledge into practice whilst developing highly desirable professional skills. Negotiating the topic and scope is a key element of the project and it is anticipated that this will be led by the partner. Alongside assisting the partner in delivery of a task, the student is required to submit to the University a report based on the project. This is not the output for the partner but connects their practical experience with the academic literature and their learning from the other parts of the MSc course.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on sissar@outlook.com .
Kind Regards,
Seema Issar

Local Collaboration - Acceleration renewable energy

Festivals powered by renewable energy? Solar-Energy on shared roofs? Schools that share their generated energy locally in their community? There are numerous possibilities to accelerate the energy transition in the Netherlands. Many initiatives are born from local ambition, and that is not a coincidence! Establishing a renewable ambition with all involved stakeholders, making the right technical, legal, financial and organizational choices and ensuring mutual benefit, that’s what signifies LOcal COLlaboration.

Festivals powered by renewable energy? Solar-Energy on shared roofs? Schools that share their generated energy locally in their community? There are numerous possibilities to accelerate the energy transition in the Netherlands. Many initiatives are born from local ambition, and that is not a coincidence! Local collaboration is the key to successful realization. Establishing a renewable ambition with all involved stakeholders, making the right technical, legal, financial and organizational choices and ensuring mutual benefit, that’s what signifies LOcal COLlaboration.

Together, today
Renewable energy from your own community or municipality is within reach today by teaming up parties that need each other! This is possible by creating marketplaces to connect local energy-cooperatives with companies or institutions with a large roof. There are multiple initiatives throughout the Netherlands facilitating this. This way cooperatives will realise solar projects, companies or institutions will generate profit by leasing out their roofs, and communities gain access to local renewable energy.

In local collaboration
Lasting collaboration with stakeholders on a structural basis increases the chance of success. This way it is proven that involving residents/renters is essential to achieve sustainability in housing corporations. Currently, several collaborations of housing corporations (Duurzaamheidskringen) are working together with their residents to realise the installation of solar panels on their housing stock, to increase sustainability as well as comfort of living.

Mutually beneficial
In order to fulfil an ambition and to sustain an ‘all hands on deck’ mentality during the exploitation of sustainable services, a mutual benefit is of major importance. In the case of the energy transition for festivals and public events, ensuring a near-constant energy cost for festival organizers as well as operational reliability for the owner is essential in order to be successful and to contribute to the sustainability goals of the municipality.

Working together with all stakeholders, sharing knowledge and proven practices and creating local value accelerate the renewable energy transition.

Locol connects and guides parties in the journey to reach collective local sustainable energy goals, benefiting all involved. Locol is committed to local and regional governments, housing corporations, residents, energy cooperatives and owners/operators of (event) sites and large buildings. In 2014 Locol has been initiated as a social business with a cost neutral business model by the Netherlands’ largest energy network company Alliander.

At Impact Hub Amsterdam we believe that experimentation is essential for innovation. As part of the 2017 edition of the Investment Ready NL Program, in which 11 circular enterprises embarked on a peer-to-peer learning journey, we invited three seasoned entrepreneurs to share their experiences with failure and difficult moments: Claudia Valladares (Impact Hub Caracas), Bert van Son (MUD Jeans) and Mark Kulsdom (The Dutch Weed Burger). There will be plenty of time for Q&A.
