> Next step: forms of housing for Turkish and Moroccan elderly people
On 21 March 2017, a policy meeting was held by Amstelhuis Cocon Vastgoed Zorg and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Central to this meeting was the subject “forms of housing for Turkish and Moroccan elderly people”.
Representatives of Cocon Vastgoed Zorg, professors and researchers from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and representatives from “Wijkadvies” (Community Advice) considered various forms of housing for these specific groups. This resulted in unique concepts and ideas, to serve as recommendations for Cocon Vastgoed Zorg:
• Create small housing units with 30 to 40 residents, two separate spaces for, respectively, Turkish and Moroccan seniors.
• Each space has a transitional space and a bridging function to the general and the public spaces.
• Relationships with children and grandchildren appear to be essential. Set up the space in such a manner that contact with family is possible and attractive.
We hope to jointly work out the ideas in further detail in the future.

City-zen: smart grid in Amsterdam Nieuw West
We are in the midst of the transition towards clean energy. The way we use, produce and trade energy is changing rapidly. In order to facilitate this transition, existing energy systems, of which the electrical grid is an essential component, need to be adapted and upgraded. Dutch grid operator Alliander is constantly working to make sure the grid remains efficient, reliable, safe, fast and cost effective.

Update October 2018:
The End-2-End smart grid in Amsterdam Nieuw West is connected to more than 10.000 dwellings. The End-2-End smart grid is fitted with sensors and/or remote controls on every voltage level – from the low voltage 400/230 V level to and including the high voltage 150kV level - enabling the DSO Liander to monitor and control loads and voltages. The first data from the monitoring equipment has been collected which provides insights into the robustness of the grid, now and in the future.
Conclusion measurements over the year 2017: the measurements indicates that the grid is very stable and no issues with grid stability are to be expected in the near future. The effects of experiments conducted with the Virtual Power Plant are expected to be clearly discernible in measurements on the low voltage level.
Some of the activities planned in 2018 and 2019:
- Demonstration and monitoring of the functionalities of the Virtual Power Plant and Vehicle-to-grid
- Four bidirectional charging stations are operational and 30+ home batteries are now actively trading on the day ahead market.
- Energy Tradingwiththe Virtual Power Plantand further develop the needed algorithms.
- Monitoring equipment and dashboard are developed.
- Determining the value of VPP and V2G for grid capacity and quality management and what the value is for alternatives to grid enforcement.
- Social research among the participants of the demonstration byworkshops, interviews and questionnaires.
- Further develop the grid control model.Continue improving the needed algorithms for monitoring and control purposes.

Data and information
The website Amsterdam City Data and the website of Research, Information and Statistics (OIS) have been merged under the name Data en informatie (Data and information), with the url data.amsterdam.nl. The advantages of the merging are:
- topical data, statistics and research are coherently presented
- quick and new ways can be developed to make visual and interactive presentations of data and information
You will find data sources from researches which will be shown in the form of tables, factsheets, dashboards, animations and reports. As well as datasets and topical data from, among other sources, municipal records databases.
You can easily search for all these data and have them shown in a map, download them as a data set, or link them automatically to your own system via a so-called ‘web service’ or API.
The buttons in the green square on the user interface give access to maps, the panorama viewer and the data catalogue.
Under the moniker ‘In beeld’ (‘In pictures’) we present data and research results interactively and visually as animations, dashboards and data stories, among other formats.
The menu offers help while using these functionalities.
The data portal is for anyone who is looking for reliable and up-to-date information about the city. For Amsterdam’s public officials who want to make the right decisions and civil servants who want to work effectively. But also for civilians, researchers and journalists who are looking for facts. Data en informatie is openly accessible and data that is public can be freely used by anyone. Some of the data are available to authorized city employees only.
If you have any questions or remarks about Data en informatie please contact us through redactie.ois@amsterdam.nl.
