B. Amsterdam Launches B. Smart City Hub

Featured image

The 24,000 sqm hub will cater to companies by providing affordable space for assembly, storage, and distribution.

B. Amsterdam is gearing up to launch a new kind of innovation space for its members. The B. Smart City Hub, which is set to open its doors this January, will serve companies in the startup and/or scaleup stage that seek an affordable space in which to grow their businesses by extending assembly, packaging and distribution offerings, among others. It will cater to mainly those in the waste, water, energy, (last mile) logistics, smart storage, food and mobility sectors.

Affordable Space In A Central Location
Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam Udo Kock (Economic Affairs): “The B. Smart City Hub is a great initiative to further strengthen Amsterdam’s excellent startup climate. The City of Amsterdam welcomes innovative and sustainable working spaces like the B. Smart City Hub, to give startups the chance to grow and scale-up by facilitating affordable office space on a central location.”

A platform for growth and workplace innovator, B. Amsterdam aims to bring corporates, startups, entrepreneurs, and education together in both digital and physical spaces. Next to its current 40,000 sqm of coworking and event space, the B. Smart City Hub is a key part of this vision. The space will include several areas in which companies can bring their own assembly service equipment and staff, all while being able to stay next to the main city ring of Amsterdam. As the space is shared, the hub will allow for that distinctive coworking vibe.

B. Amsterdam is heavily working towards its goal of making the B. Smart City Hub an integral part of a more sustainable future for the city. It’s the first step in the development of the “West Innovation District”, now known as Riekerpolder, and will work as the pilot and energizer for future development in the area. It’s all part of a larger plan to transform the entire Schinkelkwartier, which spans the space between B. Amsterdam and the Olympic Stadion, into a new residential, recreational and work area for the city’s entrepreneurs that prioritizes inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation.

Ricardo van Loenen, CEO and co-founder of B.: “We’re hopeful that the B. Smart City Hub will inspire other cities, large and small, to engage its entrepreneurs and harness that innovation for the benefit of a sustainable future. This is exactly what the B. Smart City Hub aims to do. It’s a place where anyone can develop, test, and grow anything. I’m grateful for the role we get to play here, and I believe we’ll only see the coworking industry’s involvement in this future continue to grow.”

The B. Smart City Hub will increase B. Amsterdam’s total space to 64.000sqm, bolstering its title as the largest startup ecosystem in Europe.

Let's Startup 2019

Featured image

On Friday, January 11 2019 we will start the new year with our annual tech
festival “Let’s Startup”. On this day we celebrate our members as well as the industry and everybody is welcome! Let’s Startup is a festival codesigned with our B. members, to celebrate entrepreneurship at B. and bring together our extensive international network.

What to expect?
During the festival, expect a myriad of workshops, masterclasses, speed dating and networking opportunities to help you build, grow and scale your business. We will also take the opportunity to kick off some new services and programs at B. that will help ease community collaboration and contribute to the growth of our members. At night, we’ll bring everyone together to raise glass to the new year and dance.

How does it work?
All activities at the festival are divided in three pillars: fast growing
companies, future talent and corporate innovation. Also, there is a main stage with some keynote speakers and panels with industry leaders. Members are invited to apply for a spot at our festival. Think of hosting a workshop or masterclass or providing an interactive showcase of your product or service. We encourage all of you to contribute and attend this annual community festival.
