We are BYCS. We see a world where 50% of all city trips are by bicycle by 2030. This ambitious goal demands the brightest ideas and the most determined action. It also requires some great digital engagement.

Potential areas of work (depending on your skills):

> Social media: channel management, community engagement, paid ads, simple graphics, newsletters
> Website: updates, SEO, analytics
> Writing: website and social content, news pieces, brochures / portfolios

Must:
> Be passionate about positive change
> Have professional standards of Dutch and English

Full or part time. You'll be working with an amazing team in the Jordaan, alongside our Comms Director, helping to craft and deliver our strategy.

Amsterdam zoekt nieuwe Fietsburgemeester!

Heb jij ideeën over hoe je het fietsen in Amsterdam kunt verbeteren? Meld je dan aan als nieuwe Fietsburgemeester van Amsterdam! Een Fietsburgemeester is het gezicht van het fietsen in een stad en vormt de schakel tussen de gemeente, stadsbewoners en andere stakeholders. Daarnaast zijn alle Fietsburgemeesters onderdeel van een internationaal netwerk.

Aanmelden is simpel: je gaat naar www.bicyclemayor.org en beantwoord een aantal vragen die door een jury bekeken worden. De jury kiest een top 5, die 5 kandidaten presenteren op donderdagavond 19 oktober hun ideeën aan de vijf juryleden. Op basis van de presentaties kiezen zij een top 3. Op donderdagavond 2 november pitcht deze top 3 hun plannen aan het publiek. De uiteindelijke winnaar wordt gekozen met de stem van het publiek, de jury en voormalig Fietsburgemeester Anna Luten.

De positie van Fietsburgemeester is vrijwillig. Je krijgt er uiteraard wel veel voor terug! Je leert ontzettend veel over de ontwikkelingen op fietsgebied in Amsterdam en wereldwijd en de functie is een verrijking voor je (internationale) netwerk. Er is veel ruimte voor eigen inbreng en je wordt gecoacht in het geven van pitches en interviews, het organiseren van bijeenkomsten, innovatief en creatief denken en het ontwikkelen van leiderschap skills - afhankelijk van jouw wensen en behoeften.

Het ‘Bicycle Mayor Program’ is geïnitieerd door CycleSpace en is bedoeld om wereldwijd de groei rondom fietsen te versnellen.

Save the date: Hackathon met de Fietsburgemeester van Amsterdam

Brainstorm, innoveer, ontwerp en denk mee met Anna Luten -Fietsburgemeester van Amsterdam- over jouw ideale fietsstad. Anna wil zich aankomend jaar graag bezig houden met de volgende drie thema's, waarover jij kunt meedenken:

• Meer jongeren enthousiasmeren voor het fietsen
• Grotere veiligheid van het fietsen
• De fiets als belangrijk item op de agenda in de toekomst

Do you want to be there when the first Bicycle Mayor of Amsterdam is being elected? Or ask the new mayor your questions and celebrate the title with him or her after the election? Come and join us on June 24th.

For interested candidates: you can nominate yourself for the unofficial Bicycle Mayor of Amsterdam until June 15th. From June 15th until June 23th, everybody can vote for their favorite bicycle mayor.

Do you have an idea that could make cycling better? Join Cyclehack! You can pitch an idea, work with others on this idea and built a prototype by the end of the weekend.

Together with other Cyclehackers, you will work on your idea from Saturday morning until Sunday evening. We will provide good food and tasty drinks. You are also welcome to stay for the night in our pavilion.

On Sunday, from 10:00 till 15:00, there will be a special Cyclehack for kids of 6-16 years old.

Amsterdam is working on a new 'Meerjarenplan Fiets' plan for 2017-2021 to improve cycling in the city. What are the ideas and questions for this plan? What more should be included according to other cycling stakeholders? And do YOU have any ideas about how cycling in Amsterdam could be improved?

Join this interactive talk on June 16th to think about and work together on the future of Amsterdam cycling.

The program will start with an introduction by the lead bicycle policy advisors of the Municipality of Amsterdam, Vera van den Bos en Thomas Koorn, in which they will present the ideas for the plan so far. After this, a selection of key players in the field will do a short pitch about what they believe is important to include in the plan. We will close the evening with a mini-workshop (with drinks:-)), where you can contribute your ideas to improve cycling in Amsterdam.

Cycling research is booming in the Netherlands and beyond. But what research topics are currently high on the agenda, and how do they relate to practice? Professionals will tell about it during this CycleSalon, but we're also curious to know what you think should be a topic of research in the cycling field.

This event will feature perspectives from Marco te Brömmelstroet, Paul Koster and Martijn Sargentini.

Marco te Brömmelstroet (aka the Fiets Professor) is professor and researcher at theUniversity of Amsterdam, Centre for Urban Studies. Paul Koster is assistant professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) in the Department of Spatial Economics. As a researcher, he is also affiliated with Tinbergen Institute. Martijn Sargentini is Project Lead Investment in Bicycle of the Amsterdam Region.
