The Nuon Solar Team, a team of 16 students of the TU Delft, have build their own world class solar racer: the Nuna9. Check out the greatly designed car with its innovative techniques. The team will compete in October during the World Solar Challenge in Australia, defending their title as reigning World Champions Solar Racing.
The way we use energy to heat and cook our homes is changing on a large scale. The phase out of gas is about more than money and technology. It affects people in their home situation and is therefore a matter of feeling and acceptance. What do residents actually know about the heat transition and the impact that it will have on their home? And what do they think about it? In what way can we take that into account when phasing out gas from Amsterdam.
In the 39th episode of ‘The Circular City’ Nuon and Pakhuis de Zwijger are going to Amsterdam's neighborhoods: how do residents move on to a city without natural gas?
We let residents speak. How do they think about the climate, energy, heat transitions and the phase out of gas? What do they know about it? Does the subject interest them? Are they active in being sustainable themselves?
The answers and experiences of the residents will form the base for some edgy statements we will be discussing in Pakhuis de Zwijger on 5 July. Please join us!

Bijeenkomst Pakhuis de Zwijger: Exit gas **Wonen zonder aardgas: een utopie of de nieuwe standaard?
De gemiddelde energierekening bestaat ongeveer voor tweederde uit
verwarmingskosten. Bij vrijwel alle gebouwen wordt hiervoor gas gebruikt.
Slechts een derde van de rekening bestaat uit elektriciteitskosten. De
energietransitie richt zich met name op elektriciteit; hoog tijd voor een
warmtetransitie!**
Met de overschakeling van gas op alternatieve energievoorzieningen valt klimaatwinst te behalen. Deze zijn broodnodig om aan klimaatdoelstellingen te voldoen. Een gasloos bestaan maakt ons bovendien minder afhankelijk van een grondstof, die in toenemende mate onzekerheid met zich meebrengt. Gasreserves slinken en de politieke verhoudingen liggen zowel nationaal als internationaal gevoelig. Ook in Amsterdam wordt deze discussie momenteel volop gevoerd.
Op 1 november praten energieleveranciers, netbeheerders en andere experts
over de betekenis van deze transformatie voor de stad Amsterdam. Is de stad
klaar voor deze overschakeling?
