Crowdsourcing insights and ideas online to solve four circularity challenges around food waste, education, plastics, and access over ownership!

Featured image

Interested in winning a free ticket to Beyond Next, the circularity festival (https://circle-economy.com/beyond-next), including travel and accommodation if you are not based in Amsterdam? Interested in contributing to a circular economy with your research and ideas?

Circle Economy has partnered up with the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, ABN AMRO, Gemeente Amsterdam and HEMA to run challenges to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

You can now submit existing research, facts and figures, inspirational examples, and other key insights related to these challenges. The challenges cover four major themes of education, product as a service, organic waste in a circular city, and single use plastics.

We will synthesise and openly share the results of this crowd-based exploration on Circle Lab, the online platform for the circular economy, for everyone to find inspiration in, learn from, and use in developing new solutions.

These results will also support attendees of the Beyond Next Challenge Track as they ideate and prototype new solutions to the challenges throughout the two-day festival.

THE PRIZE

Send in some research and you could win a free trip including entry tickets worth €150 and accommodation and travel expenses up to €1,000!

Eight winners will be chosen based on a combination of the number and the quality of their contributions.

Introducing 1,000 examples and articles on the circular economy, now openly available on Circle Lab!

Information on the circular economy is currently spread across many organisations and industries or gated behind members-only communities. This defeats the very basis of a circular approach and makes it very hard to disseminate, and even harder to implement such strategies. By bringing all circular economy insights, best practices, and research into one place in Circle Lab for everyone to openly explore and learn from, we want to break down these information silos and accelerate knowledge transfers across sectors and borders.

You can learn more about Circle Lab and start exploring all 1,000+ cases here: https://www.circle-economy.com/circle-lab-biggest-global-open-access-innovation-platform-for-the-circular-economy-launches-1-000-new-case-studies/#.WwVegFOFNE4

Contribute your ideas to the Circular Events Challenge

From setting up to cleaning up, there is an opportunity every step of the way for circular strategies to improve the impact and legacy of high-profile events and conferences. Organisations around the world are already playing their part: from edible cutlery and biodegradable food packaging to harvesting rainwater, urban farming, and take-back schemes- countless case studies have inspired and energised us as we worked on formulating this challenge, and we hope they spark your imagination and inspire you to submit your own ideas to the platform.

Sponsored by Circular Glasgow, an initiative of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the challenge is a global call for ideas on how the circular economy can enable local businesses to drive positive change in the events industry. Anyone, anywhere in the world - regardless of field or level of expertise - is welcome to submit their ideas starting today until March 28. Together with partners Zero Waste Scotland, Scottish Event Campus and the Glasgow Convention Bureau and Major Events team at Glasgow Life, Circular Glasgow will be supporting the implementation of winning solutions locally and sharing learnings along the way with our online community.

Circle Lab is an online platform for cities, businesses, and citizens to explore, brainstorm, and implement circular business models and strategies to tackle universal and local challenges. By digitising knowledge, opening up access, and encouraging co-creation, we aim to break down information silos and fuel cross-industry collaboration and innovation. The circular economy has the potential to change the world, and we believe the time to bring the concept to the kitchen table – so that everyone, from entrepreneurs to big brands, can play a role in making it a reality – is now.

Circular Design Class - For Self-Employed Designers

Featured image

How can you, as a creative professional, contribute to the development of the circular economy and generate new business for yourself? Join our upcoming CIRCO Circular Design Class to learn how! During this one-day workshop, you will be trained in the field of circular design and learn how to apply it to your work to create circular products and services.

1-Daagse Workshop CIRCO Circular Design Class - 21 september 2017 (Voor zelfstandige ontwerpers)
