SDG Meetup | Good Health & Well-Being

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Meetups are an accessible platform to learn about and work on the SDGs in an entrepreneurial way, facilitating collaboration and exchanging knowledge. It is an opportunity to meet social entrepreneurs, SMEs, independent professionals and established organisations working toward the same goal.

This month's Meetup will focus on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Many more people today are living healthier lives than in the past decade, but people are still suffering needlessly from preventable diseases, and too many are dying prematurely. SDG 3 is about ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages.

CONTRIBUTORS
➜ Philips | Public Affairs Manager Divya Dimple | One of the SDGs that Philips most focuses their efforts on is SDG 3, which they address through their innovative healthcare solutions. As a part of their five-year sustainability plan Healthy People, Sustainable Planet (running until 2020), they calculated that they have improved the lives of 1.3 billion people in 2017 through their health products and solutions.

➜ Amref Flying Doctors | Partnerships Manager Marianne Hangelbroek | Amref Flying Doctors works to improve the health of vulnerable people in Africa. Next to training locals and combatting disease, they meet with governments to permanently improve the health systems. In the Netherlands, Amref raises funds & awareness to improve the health and well-being of young women in Africa. #Knowledge

➜ Philips & Amref Flying Doctors | Philips' Senior Consultant Sustainability Saskia Verbunt & Amref's Marianne Hangelbroek | Over the past years, Amref and Philips have joined forces to improve health care systems in Africa, moving from a donor-based relationship to a shared value partnership that leverages the skills and capabilities of each organisation. Together, the organisations will share more about their project to improve access to health care for over 20,000 people in the Makueni region in Kenya. #Action

➜ LegBank | Founder Merel Rumping | Worldwide 30 million people need orthopedic care but have limited or no access to it. LegBank combines a social entrepreneurial strategy to decentralize and deliver care in the backyard of rural communities, empowered by technology. This way it contributes to the well-being for all, and all ages! #Action #Innovation
