A shout-out to the Amsterdam Smart City community!
TIStv features #SmartCities this month. We have already gathered a nice collection in videos about smart transportation, cooperation and energy on our platform, take a look! BUT, we are always looking for more videos on the subject. So if you have any nice videos to share, let us know :)

Edge AI Handson Special @SensemakersAMS

This Wednesday we'll be tinkering in the Makerspace of the OBA again, you can work on your own projects but you can also join the free workshop where you can learn to run an AI model locally on your smartphone or microcontroller and teach it to do keyword spotting or object recognition.
Looking forward to seeing you! We spreken trouwens ook Nederlands!
Remote Sensing (Satellites), Vrijheidscollege

Dimitri Tokmetzis (1975) is a historian and investigative journalist. He leads the data team of Follow The Money and wrote the books Je hebt wel iets te verbergen (2016) and De digitale Schaduw (2012). He is currently very much involved in remote sensing, which allows you to obtain information about a person, animal or thing without making physical contact. In his Freedom Lecture he discusses power and freedom in a time when the sky is full of satellites.
The intention is to end the evening with an interactive debate based on the lecture!
Sensemakers #IoTDay celebration: Easter Workshop

For the 15th year we're celebrating International IoTDay, it's all about sharing knowledge about how to create your own projects and connecting with people in the process!
We’re excited to share a fun and engaging project with you! Join the Easter workshop, creating a beautiful personalized ornament that you can lasercut and program yourself! (of course we'll help!)
More information on the project can be found here:
https://sensemakersams.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Sensemakers-XMas2024-Project.pdf
There is a fee involved, but we have 2 'Pay-It-Forward' kits available for those low on budget this holiday season. Just dm Manon if you want one of those!
And of course we'll have some free alternatives like experimenting with 3D printing your own Easter-buddy:-)
Thanks Simone,
My thoughts exactly! Nothing is perfect every an get better. Just the start of my journey on this very logical road to the future.

I will discuss it with my team, but personally I think it's always good to post videos like these to get the discussion going. What is recycling, what is the circular economy about? And maybe this might not be the best option, but it will get people to think critically on the subjects. And who knows, maybe someone - on the other side of the world - gets inspired by your ideas and does figure out a way to contribute to the circular economy. Good luck today, Jim!
Hi Simone,
Thank you for your kind words. You may not want to post it. I am being blasted by the circle economy community who says this is not circular economy but only downgrade recycling. I guess I have a lot to learn about the circular economy. Try, fail, try again, That's how I get better. Always amazed at how quick people are to criticise and trash but when asked for help to improve or better yet provide a solution or constructive advice.... silence. Back to the drawing board. Hopefully today's event at the KvK will help!
Groetjes,
Jim

Dear Jim, thanks for the great video. Haven't seen it before and will post in our site later :) Please let me/us know if you've got any other videos.
Hi Maaike,
Outdoor advertising has a high impact on our environment. Some say it will never be able to be truly sustainable and it will be hard challenged to meet the high standards of the circular economy. But with a little effort, I believe it can be both.
Here is a link to a video that shows how something as common as a discarded beer bottle can be turned into an outdoor promotional print. Unfortunately, Amsterdam has recently banned natural-media but that is not going to stop the small, innovative industry that now has over 100 companies producing natural-media campaigns around the world, 15 right here in the Netherlands!
