Parksharing: for local collaboration and sharing between businesses

Featured image

The importance of working together locally, sharing together, and matching supply and demand between companies is increasing. More than ever, we see local entrepreneurs helping each other and purchasing products or services from one another. Working together from the catering industry to healthcare pays off. Parksharing enables entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations to take concrete steps towards local cooperation and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Connecting, collaborating and sustainability
We connect companies and organizations at local level through Parksharing. The platform shows which companies and organizations are in the municipality and what they can do for each other. Companies can then offer and purchase their products and services among themselves. After all, why find a distant friend when you have a good neighbor?

In addition, companies can match and share the supply and demand of company resources, materials, residual flows, services, personnel and facilities. For some companies, there is a great demand for materials, resources or extra manpower, while for other organizations equipment is idle or staff are temporarily available.

Think very concretely about: forklift trucks, storage space, parking spaces, partial mobility, residual flows and materials, transport capacity, meeting rooms, surplus stock, knowledge, sustainable projects or business cases, workplaces, technical staff and warehouse employees, for example.

PARKSHARING FOR LOCAL COLLABORATION AND SHARING

CONNECT, COLLABORATE, SHARE AND BECOME SUSTAINABLE

PARKSHARING SCAN

To accelerate this new and circular development from ownership to use, we have developed a ParkSharingScan. This allows companies to calculate in advance what they can potentially earn and save by sharing assets, materials, services and facilities, both in euros and in energy and CO2.

The first results of the SharingScan are already promising: 10.3 million euros potential savings in costs, 7.5 million CO2 savings and more than 11.5 million KwH in energy savings.

What is the goal of the project?

Parksharing facilitates and stimulates local collaboration and sharing between businesses. Which enables them to become more circular and future-proof.
The Parksharing platforms makes transparant who or what, is when and where available or needed. This allows businesses to swapp, sell and share equipment, materials, services, facilities and personnel on a local scale, instead of keep buying new products and keep purchasing resources from long distance.

What is the result of the project?

Local sharing and collaboration between businesses results in multiple values for everyone involved:

  • Contact, connection and cooperation with companies.
  • Efficient use of existing business resources, residual flows, materials, facilities, services, knowledge and personnel.
  • CO2- and energy savings
  • Costsavings or extra turnover.
  • Purchasing local (and cheaper) raw materials from residual flows from other companies
  • sustainable and circular entrepreneurship.
  • Collectively tackling (sustainable) projects.
  • Keeps companies financially healthy and future-proof.
  • Closing resource loops at local and regional level and less waste: for company A waste, for company B raw material (industrial symbiosis).
  • Provides an attractive business climate for new companies in the region

Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?

FLOOW2 initiated the project. Parksharing is one of our sharing solutions for businesses.
Organizations involved:

  • Municipalities
  • Local Business Associations
  • Park management Organizations

What is the next step?

Expanding the Parksharing project and platform towards every municipality and business park in The Netherlands and everywhere around the world. The platform is suitable for every region, municipality, city, business park, or business association to connect businesses and to enable them to collaborate and share.

What can other cities learn from your project?

  • Set up the Parksharing project and platform together with: municipality, business associations and/or parkmanagement organizations.
  • Make it part of green deal.
  • A critical mass of businesses, users, demand and supply is needed for matches and success.
  • Launch the platform on multiple business parks at one, or within the entire city. Involve schools and health organizations as well.
  • Facilitate the platform (financially) towards businesses for the first 1,5 years. Let them get familiar with asset sharing and the benefits.
  • Start by giving a good example, start with sharing as a city/municipality: 'practice what you preach'.
