Do you realize that most plastics bags and containers used to collect waste are actually still made from virgin plastics..... That is why GreenWavePlastics and Amsterdam based CitiesFoundation have introduced a 100% recyclate content waste bag for the WASTED program in Amsterdam Noord. All produced in The Netherlands Who is next ??
Email : greenwaveplastics@live.nl
What is the goal of the project?
Material that is being collected is not automatically recycled into new products. Too much valuable resources end up in incineration or on landfills. Closing the material loops is already feasible today for a lot of products. Let s just start doing it.
Green (Public) Procurement is often talked about, but even with relatively low value products it is simply not done enough
What is the result of the project?
Increased awareness as citizens will see why they separate waste and what can be made from it once it is correctly done. The best motivation for any human being is being rewarded or incentivised for responsible behaviour. Let s put the right value to waste and turn waste streams into useful day to day products
An ambitious City like Amsterdam should strive to use most of its waste streams back into a multitude of products used in and around the city within the next 10-15 years. Most techniques exist, but things are still not happening. Why ?
Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?
The project was initiated by GreenWavePlastics in partnership with Cities Foundation. GreenWavePlastics then mobilized a Dutch producer of bags and a leading plastics recycling company to provide for the recycled raw materials. From idea to realization and product delivery within 3 months (technology exist !)
What is the next step?
Roll out to other parts of TheNetherlands and Europe. Next ranges of products are already in the 'pipeline'
What can other cities learn from your project?
Horizontal multi-stakeholder co-creation is needed. Get out of your comfort zones
