Schluss

With Schluss you will have your own digital, multi encrypted digital safe. Which only YOU can access. Inside that safe you can store anything: from simple addresses to real complex medical and financial data. And the information that you decide to give insight to, can never be copied, transferred or sold. And it's always up-to-date.

We're building Schluss together: with technicians, companies, governments and individuals. Our software will be Open Source. We're building a community. A world wide cooperative where each Schluss-user is co-owner. To ensure that Schluss will always stay that independent, trusted third party.

Schluss software will be Open Source. The entity will be a cooperative.

What is the goal of the project?

Citizens are confronted with the wide ‘reuse’ of all kind of personal data without their permission and awareness. To prevent this and manage the disclosed private data, citizens will be encouraged to save and control all their private data at one very transparent ‘dashboard’ that Schluss provides.
Schluss empowers citizens to manage their (open) data profiles by themselves and makes them aware about online privacy by giving them a tool to share privacy sensitive data (e.g. profiles, health information and all other digital information) while keeping control with guaranteed transparency.

What is the result of the project?

Schluss is about personal data and sharing it. The city needs personal data to improve it's performance. But privacy and security are a main concern. With Schluss users can securely share their information and keep control, Schluss is the ultimate platform for secure and safe data exchange. A bèta version is online available.

Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?

We are a team of 4 people with a background in techniques and business development. We are surrounded by a group 50 like-minded people who are making large contributions with work, knowledge and network. We're really proud of our Board of Advice with Jaya Baloo (CISO KPN), Marc Wesselink (Partner Startupbootcamp) and Bert Rorije (Strategist).

What is the next step?

We're currently testing the connection with companies. Since they 'own' parts of our information at the moment. Companies are very willing to cooperate since also for them schluss offers a lot of advantages and it will help them comply to new legislation as GDPR and PSD2.

What can other cities learn from your project?

People are very much interested in the idea and the concept. We know that we have to develop an extreme user-friendly (UX/UI) design.
The main challenges we envision are related to
a) Generating a massive scale of users. We build a community around online privacy to ensure large scale and active participation.
b) Security tools trigger “hacking” in general. That’s why we’ll make our platform open source
Schluss will be built for all internet-users. Our intention is to start testing in a major city in Europe. Finally all cities and governmental organizations will benefit.
