What is the goal of the project?

The Urban Technology research programme is characterised by a design-oriented approach and results in concrete solutions which can be implemented and scaled up. The research focuses on the important tasks facing the city and is divided up into four recognizable challenges: Mobility, Energy, Circular City and Built City.
Circular City is intended to help Amsterdam make the transition to a circular city, with a focus on the high-quality reuse of materials and products, local production, waste and return logistics, circular construction and area development. Circular City will also focus on the manufacturing industry and the construction and food sectors.

What is the result of the project?

The concrete solutions of the research will be actually realised in the 'testing ground' of the research programme: the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (AMA). In 2017, the city will have been used a dozen times as a testing ground, within which smart, technological solutions will have been designed which can be used locally and also scaled up.

Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA)
