Permaculture Impact on Schools, Europa School Transformation

Featured image

Our children are growing on paved, 2 dimentional and disconnected school environments. We are here to change that. With our passion Permaculture concept, we designed and created a new style of school garden, which doesn't exist in Amsterdam and if we are not wrong in the Netherlands. It was not the first of our school design/implementation. Laterna Magica School in IJburg Amsterdam is also another example.

You can find further info, photos, videos on our website. We need help from all aware people to inform schools about our services that we can have more impact on our environment and children's connection with nature

What is the goal of the project?

Creating Naturally connected and educative school environments

What is the result of the project?

It has been implemented in 2019. With our design and Permaculture techniques, we have saved tons of drinkable water ongoing with Rainwater Harvesting. We have implemented a teachers resting area. We have stoped flooding in the totally paved garden. Edible, pollen rich flowers and herbs plantation, involving children in implementation and further learning and connecting opportunities have been created

Who initiated the project and which organizations are involved?

School management contacted us, international school of Esprit Schools. Other than us, as supply chain, Stadshout Amsterdam and resellers for materials and playground are involved under our supervision.

What is the next step?

Terrace implementation with specially designed growing boxes(no irrigation needed). We would like to reach out to as many schools as possible to multiply the concept and making aware of other schools about our services

What can other cities learn from your project?

Permaculture Design and colloborating with nature

Hi, I am very interested in this project as I have heard amazing results regarding teaching children how to grow their own food. I am from South Africa and there has been amazing results recorded about increases in low income families (children and their parents) health (mental and physical due to nutrition education) regarding gardening and producing their own food. It also increases confidence and teaches responsibility for something they have control over which also has ripple effects in other aspects of their lives.

Please see one of the links below.

I would like to help with this project, if its possible. Please let me know.

Thanks
