City of Amsterdam: Digitalization & Innovation
Social issues are becoming increasingly complex. Combating climate change, reducing CO2 emissions and decreasing social inequality, but also the effective organization of public order and enforcement and mobility require new means and the collection and clever combination of information. At the same time, technical developments are moving fast and there are more and more possibilities to process large amounts of data - BigData. This enables us to deal with social issues in a more effective, efficient, and sometimes disruptive way.
We also notice this in our municipality. The emergence of the Internet, the use of data and new technological possibilities have drastically changed the way we work and live. Everything we do is digital or at least has a digital component. The transition from the industrial to the digital age creates new opportunities and challenges and requires a different role from the government.
The Digitalization & Innovation department is the municipality of Amsterdam's market explorer for technical and innovative developments that can provide solutions for our organization and our city. We seek advice from other national government bodies, knowledge institutions, colleges, universities, and the market. We work closely with two innovation labs in the city, Amsterdam ArenA and the Marineterrein, to test and validate innovative solutions in practice.
And finally, the people of Amsterdam, they are and remain our most important sparring partners.
