Opportunities in Vancouver for Dutch companies in the sustainable building sector

The city of Vancouver wants to be the greenest city in the world by 2020. As part of this ambition it has adopted a zero-emissions building plan. Meaning that each new building should be powered, heated and cooled without any net greenhouse gas emissions. This move puts the city at the forefront of the green building movement. To figure out how to do this the city is looking at European initiatives and technologies in the area of sustainable building, particularly at the Dutch methods used. This opens a door of big opportunity for the private sector.

In the next six months the Dutch Consulate-General in Vancouver supports various initiatives of Dutch companies in western Canada. In January 2018 the Canadian Green Building Conference organizes a mission to the Netherlands to learn more about the Dutch technologies being used. More details on this mission will follow this summer.
