Have you obtained a master's degree in social and/or organization sciences, and would you like to study innovation and change? Then consider joining our interdisciplinary team with a PhD research on accelerating sustainability transitions!

This PhD position is part of an interdisciplinary team of three PhD researchers, one postdoc, and two senior researchers in the project ‘EXTRA’: <em>From EXperiment to sustainable change: TRAnsformative methodologies for innovation and learning</em>. EXTRA is a collaboration between multiple universities and public and private partners to research and advance physical and experimental environments as enabling methodologies for learning and innovation, also known as living labs.

Living labs are applied by various change-makers, including governmental actors, industry partners, NGOs, researchers, and citizens, to co-create innovations. However, while much experimentation and innovation occur, achieving long-term systemic change remains difficult. Therefore, the main purpose of EXTRA is to amplify the transformative power of living labs with novel insights, instruments, and human capacities, thus enabling change-makers to make sustainable changes and societal impacts. 

In the consortium this PhD research will focus on the organization of innovation to accelerate sustainability transition. More specifically, by gathering knowledge and analyses across different fields and cases, this research will identify and validate (inter)organizational approaches, interventions, and business models to overcome barriers and enable the public-private collaboration needed for embedding, translating, and scaling innovations.

Bureau Marineterrein en gemeente Amsterdam werken samen aan een plan om van deze locatie een bijzondere plek te maken voor creativiteit, circulaire economie en ondernemerschap. Binnen PARK27 bouwen organisaties, collectieven, initiatieven en Amsterdammers aan een nieuwe, sociaal rechtvaardige economie binnen ecologische grenzen. In het hart van innovatiedistrict Marineterrein vormt het een ideale omgeving voor experiment en samenwerking. 

Voor de invulling van het verdere proces, benodigde ruimtelijke ingrepen en het beschikbaar maken van financiële middelen, vragen we input van partijen die een rol voor zichzelf zien binnen PARK27.

De locatie is 1000 m², is flexibel in te richten en bestaat uit een lobby met sanitaire voorzieningen, drie ruim opgezette werkplekken en een enorme loods in het midden van het gebouw. Ideaal voor een creatieve invulling zoals werk- en maakplekken, een expositieruimte, evenementenlocatie, samenwerking of andere creatieve en innovatieve concepten. De ruimte is minimaal 5 jaar beschikbaar.

The European Innovation and Investment Agency for Culture and Creativity launches its first accelerator programme for 2024-2025.

It focuses especially SMEs and Scale-Up which want to grow in global markets.

Participants will benefit from an 8-week acceleration programme led by top European speakers, trainers, and mentors, valued at €20,000. This intensive programme will provide you with expert guidance, hands-on workshops, and invaluable connections within the industry. Also, an in person programme in our six regional innovation hubs in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bologna, Helsinki, Kosice and Vienna is possible.
 
Participation in the programme is free of charge! 
 
The acceleration programme is also a route to joining the EIT CC partnership with purpose and to win at a later stage in EIT Culture & Creativity as strategic long term partner, investor and/or shareholder.

Through PIM NH, we actively support innovative and sustainable SMEs with growth and financing challenges. Over the past 7 years, we have assisted more than 900 entrepreneurs and helped secure over 250 million euros in financing.

SMEs play a key role in the transition to a circular economy by 2050. The municipality of Amsterdam has committed to supporting these businesses in making this transition. As a result, PIM, on behalf of the municipality of Amsterdam, will assist small and medium-sized business owners in taking steps toward a circular economy.

PIM helps entrepreneurs achieve their circular ambitions by increasing the success rate of circular business cases and securing financing for their implementation. We provide support for circular challenges such as: "Is my circular business case fundable?" and "What financing options are available for my circular business case?"

The world of e-mobility is evolving rapidly. Essential
•   A minimum of five years in roles related to circular economy consultancy and/or research, or other relevant experience.
•   Relevant   Master’s   degree   (such   as   Industrial   Ecology,   Industrial   Design,   Engineering, Environmental Sciences).
•   Demonstrated project management experience and ability to responsibly manage multiple projects.
•   Experienced in using LCA software to quantify environmental, social and economic impact.

What:

The AMS Startup Booster is a business idea development and validation program hosted by AMS Institute, aiming to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their gut feeling into a business. The entrepreneurs are expected to pursue an impact-driven startup in the field of urban tech.

Lasting over 3 months, the AMS Startup Booster 2023 will start on Oct 2023 and run until Feb 2024. The program will be mainly physical at the AMS Institute (Marineterrein, Amsterdam) and is most effective when all teams are fully committed so during the aforementioned time period there is a minimum requirement of 10 hours per week for each startup.

Program:

The curriculum consists of more than 30 workshops, masterclasses and 1on1s focusing on customer discovery and problem-solution fit.

During our workshops the following topics will be addressed:

• Market Segmentation & Customer Personas
• Customer Discovery
• Value Proposition & Business Model Design
• MVP Design & Prototyping

Finally, peer-to-peer sessions and 1-on-1 mentoring by successful entrepreneurs and C-level professionals in your industry will complete the free services we offer to the selected startups. In total, the startups will get a 360 entrepreneurship curriculum consisting of more than 30 workshops & masterclasses.

YOUR PROFILE

• Demonstrated project management experience and ability to responsible manage multiple projects
• Experience in using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software and other tools to quantify environmental, social and economic impact
• Relevant Master’s degree (such as Industrial Ecology, Industrial Design, Engineering, Environmental Sciences)
• Good understanding of circular economy principles
• Comfortable self-starter and completer of assignments
• Enjoy working in teams, an integral part of many of our projects

What is an Impact Deal?

The City of Amsterdam (Amsterdam Impact) is looking for 10 Amsterdam companies that want to take concrete steps in 2023 towards becoming more sustainable or increasing their social impact.

In an Impact Deal, the entrepreneur and the municipality agree to increase that company's impact by, for example, reducing CO2 emissions by 30 per cent or hiring five job seekers at a distance from the labour market.

The deal must be as concrete as possible, and the entrepreneur should define goals, activities and outcomes. The municipality provides support by offering access to its network and consultations on topics such as financing and access to European funds.

Who is behind the Impact Deals project?

Amsterdam Impact and MKB Amsterdam are the initiators of Impact Deals. The project is part of Local Green Deals, created by the European Commission's Intelligent Cities Challenge.

In 3 tot 6 maanden word je verder geholpen met trainingen, tools en professionele coaching door experts. GO!-NH zorgt er ook voor dat je jouw innovatie kunt presenteren aan serieuze investeerders, partners, potentiële klanten en andere relevante partijen in de markt.

Er zijn al tien succesvolle edities van GO!-NH afgerond, en maar liefst 140 bedrijven hebben met hulp van GO!-NH inmiddels hun duurzame innovaties versneld kunnen ontwikkelen. Om mee te doen moet je aan een aantal voorwaarden voldoen.
Je bedrijf is actief in Noord-Holland én in een van de volgende sectoren:

• Energietransitie
• Duurzame Mobiliteit
• Duurzame landbouw en voedsel
• Circulaire Economie

Daarnaast wordt van je verwacht dat je gedurende het versnellingsprogramma (die tussen de 3 en 6 maanden duurt) tijd en mankracht kan vrijmaken voor je deelname. Veel ondernemers gingen je voor en allemaal zijn ze het erover eens: alle tijd die je erin steekt krijg je dubbel en dwars terug!

Upcyclecentrum zoekt circulair ondernemers!

Het Upcyclecentrum bestaat uit drie onderdelen: een recyclingperron, het belevingscentrum en drie ondernemingen die circulaire producten ontwikkelen. Op het recyclingperron worden reststromen ingeleverd die de ondernemers mogen gebruiken als grondstoffen voor nieuwe producten! Nu zijn er in het Upcyclecentrum twee plekken vrij in het circulaire ontwikkelprogramma, voor bevlogen ondernemers met een circulair product of business concept.
 
Lijkt het jou interessant om de reststromen van het recyclingperron in te zetten als grondstoffen voor jouw onderneming? Dan is dat een mooie kans! Gedurende 2 jaar ga je aan de slag met een nieuw product, concept of business model. Hierin krijg je begeleiding door middel van een ontwikkelprogramma. What:
The AMS Startup Booster is a business idea development and validation program hosted by AMS Institute, aiming to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their gut feeling into a business. The entrepreneurs are expected to pursue an impact-driven startup in the field of urban tech.

Lasting over 4-months, the AMS Startup Booster 2022-23 will start on Oct 2022 and run until Feb 2023. The program will be hybrid, mainly physical at the AMS Institute (Marineterrein, Amsterdam). The program is most effective when all teams are fully committed so during the aforementioned time period there is a minimum requirement of 16 hours per week for each startup.

Program:
The program consists of more than 12 workshops focusing on customer discovery and problem-solution fit. During these workshops, the following topics will be addressed:

• Research Fundamentals & Problem Definition
• Market Segmentation & Customer Personas
• Customer Discovery
• Value Proposition & Business Model Design
• MVP Design & Prototyping
• Experiment Design
• Pitching

In addition, our complimentary masterclasses will cover topics such as <strong>Team Fit & Alignment, Marketing & Branding, IP Rights, Finance & Funding</strong>, and many more. Peer-to-peer sessions and 1-on-1 coaching will complete the free services we offer to the selected startups. In total, the startups will get a 360 entrepreneurship curriculum consisting of more than 30 workshops & masterclasses.

Demo Day: Pitch and win prizes during the 'finals'
We close off the program with a Demo Day during which the teams showcase their business ideas and prototypes to a broad audience of experts, investors and entrepreneurs and compete for a list of amazing prizes! Prizes include:

Het GO!-NH Scale traject is gericht op Scale-ups en MKB-bedrijven die goed ontwikkeld zijn in hun huidige markt en klaar zijn om hun innovatie op te schalen naar nieuwe markten of gebieden. In dit traject verkennen bedrijven op welke nieuwe markten ze gaan focussen en wat daarbij komt kijken. GO!-NH Scale bereidt de organisatie voor op flinke groei sprongen door het uitwerken van een goede ‘go-to-market’ strategie en individuele begeleiding door experts. Dit traject duurt 6 maanden en bevat individuele coaching en 10 workshopdagen. GO!-NH Scale start in september 2022. Inschrijven voor 12 september!

• Alle deelnemende startups en innovatieteams komen na het traject in het GO!-NH Alumni-programma. Op regelmatige basis worden meet-ups en events georganiseerd.
