Since 2018, Ozarka works every variety of vendor or restaurant replacing disposable food containers with reusables, big or small, doesn't matter. As you can imagine, we are growing like crazy.

Our wash and sanitation model is decentralized. We have one main wash and sanitation facility called the "Sparkle Jar." We install "outposts" or mini-sparkle jars for wash and sanitation rather than build out more huge facilities. There are a variety of reasons for this (all good, more sustainable, and more affordable for our clients).

We need a lot more of these mini centers. SJ3, SJ4, SJ5...you get the idea. We are looking for partners that have the same commercial dishwashers we have that are not used very often Think office canteens, corporate food courts, hotels. Or, do you have water hookups and extra space that is not being used that we can rent out from you?

The most ideal locations are sort of on the outskirts of the centrum but still inside the A10. Hemshaven or Veemkade area...Oost, West, Noord are ideal locations.

The reuse revolution is really starting to take off! Our growth is going straight up and we need the Amsterdam Smart City community to help us expand our logistics by tapping into infrastructure that already exists.

The gathering of material and production of the Piss Soap is locally implemented and redistributed to the public cleaning services as well as the inhabitants. Piss soap has a regenerative impact in our cities, allowing to transform in a creative and useful way, wastes that our cities congregate."

In steden zonder kliko’s of afvalinzamelingspunten in de buurt is afval scheiden niet voor iedereen makkelijk te noemen. En in een klein appartement op vier hoog heb je nauwelijks plek voor alle benodigde prullenbakken. De Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) doet met BASSTA onderzoek naar betere afvalscheiding door huishoudens in de stad.

Met deze studie kunnen we achterhalen hoe stedelijke huishoudens hun afval scheiden, waar het nog niet zo goed gaat en hoe we dit kunnen verbeteren met gedragsinterventies. Met een duidelijke uitleg hoe en waarom deze interventies werken, is het streven dat zoveel mogelijk Nederlandse stedelijke gemeenten hiermee aan de slag gaan. Met ongeveer 8 miljard kilo huishoudelijk afval per jaar in Nederland zorgt elk percentage betere scheiding voor enorme resultaten.

Dagboekstudie: Hoe goed scheid jij thuis je afval?

In een doe-boek worden de resultaten bijgehouden van leuke, korte opdrachten die iets zeggen over afvalgedrag. Hierin wordt ook aangegeven wat (on)prettig of (on)handig is rondom de afvalinzameling bij jou thuis. Dat is nuttige informatie voor de gemeente en afvalinzamelaar, die kunnen daarmee hun werk verbeteren.

Een vereiste is wel dat je op een plek woont waar je geen eigen kliko’s hebt, maar waar je wel afval kan scheiden door gebruik te maken van gezamenlijke voorzieningen zoals ondergrondse containers.

Geef je op en krijg eind mei het doe-boek thuisbezorgd. De onderzoekers zullen dan ook nog iets meer uitleg geven. Je mag zelf kiezen op welk moment je de opdrachten doet. Hello ASC community!  We are a local start-up working to increase Conscious Dining through a new way of searching for and rating restaurants.  It is also our goal to go beyond the digital by working on local impact projects.

Recently, we surveyed the 150+ restaurants in our database on the effects of Corona on their sustainability practices, specifically in regards to the increase in packaging waste brought on by takeaway/ delivery services, and published an article on our findings here:  https://www.table-sage.com/content/articles/amsterdam/restaurants-need-support-to-continue-sustainability-efforts-during-covid-19

I do some research for my company and I have to find out who (companies) are the players in the Smart City market (Netherlands/Amsterdam) who have successfully implemented projects without specializing in just one solution - so here I'm looking who offer complete smart city offers that combine several solutions (e-waste, e- bike, e-mobility, smart bench, smart light, smart parking….)? Hey! I am a student from Finland looking to write my dissertation about the way city based festivals can thrive sustainably in a 'post-Covid-19' world and tackle sustainability issues with the support and co-creation of initiatives of the 'smart city' as well as city council.

Essentially I am aiming to argue how 'smart city' initiatives such as seen in Amsterdam and Helsinki could help festival management engage better with tackling sustainability issues cheaply, by for example offering event spaces, expertise, waste management which can be expensive processes...

Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDG’s), grondstoffen- en klimaatakkoorden; dagelijks lezen we over alle ambities rondom duurzaamheid. Nederlandse gemeenten, ondersteund door VNG’s Gemeenten4GlobalGoals campagne, staan voor een enorme uitdaging om de duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelstellingen te behalen. Tegelijkertijd start 1/3 van alle nieuwe ondernemingen vanuit een sociale of ecologische missie. Maar deze ondernemingen merken vaak dat de financiering van hun ideeën lastig is, wat de schaal en impact beperkt. Met deze challenge brengen BNG Bank & VNG gemeenten ondernemers en financiering bij elkaar!

Daarom zijn BNG Bank en VNG op zoek naar financierbare ideeën rondom energietransitie, afval en circulaire economie om zo veel mogelijk impact te maken, met name op Global Goal 12: ‘verantwoorde consumptie & productie’.

Momenteel ben ik bezig met afstuderen bij Olisto in Amsterdam. Olisto ontwikkelt een app voor consumenten die gratis te downloaden is voor Android en iOS.
Binnen de app kunnen de gebruikers IoT devices, apps en services met elkaar verbinden. Zo kan de gebruiker binnen de app smart city Amsterdam verbinden op het gebied van Park & Ride locaties, vrije laadpalen en ondergrondse plastic containers.
De gebruiker kan daarnaast verschillende kanalen gebruiken van o.a. Philips Hue, KlikAanKlikUit, SmartAlarm, WoonVeilig en nog veel meer.

Voor Olisto voer ik een onderzoek uit naar wat de wensen en behoeften zijn van potentiële partners. Onder de potentiële partners vallen bestaande en nieuwe smart city projecten.

Rooftop Award 2018
It is time again for the 'Rooftopper' and 'Roofflopper' of 2018. Report the ugliest or most beautiful green roof in the Netherlands and hopefully the roof will win the Rooftop Award 2018!

How?
Send a photo of the most beautiful or ugliest roof and report the roof through the link below. You can register until June 4th. Rooftop Revolution and ROEF select the top 10 most promising roofs in both categories. From the top 10, a professional jury chooses the Rooftopper and Roofflopper.

Criteria for the Rooftopper and Roofflopper
The criteria for the (pre-) selection are:
- The current state of the roof
- Public accessibility
- Innovation and inspiration
- Sustainability and green
- Visibility

Award
The Rooftopper wins a bee hotel to make the roof even more beautiful. De Roofflopper gets a free roof scan of € 500, carried out by Rooftop Revolution. The awards will be presented on Friday 22nd of June during the annual Rooftop Symposium in the Queen Maxima Hall of the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT).
