Circular City

Moving from a linear to a circular economy means minimising the waste and pollution by reducing, recycling and reusing. The City of Amsterdam aims to redesign twenty product- or material chains. The implementation of material reuse strategies has the potential to create a value of €85 million per year within the construction sector and €150 million per year with more efficient organic residual streams. Amsterdam set up an innovation program on the circular economy; www.amsterdamsmartcity.com/circularamsterdam. By converting waste into electricity, urban heating and construction materials, the Amsterdam Electricity Company generates 900 kWh per 1000 kg of waste. 75% of the sewage system is separated for waste and rain water and the silt which remains after treating waste water is converted into natural gas. Share your innovative concepts and ideas on circular economy here.

Do you have unused space in Amsterdam?

Loop Amsterdam realises the exchange of reusable materials between businesses. Initially, Loop focuses on electronics. Getting ready to scale up services to companies, Loop requires space for temporary storage of materials.

loopams.nlGoal

Temporary store batches of second hand electronics, to find new owners, and close the reuse loop. Thereby reducing waste, and contributing to a circular economy.

What I need

m² to store electronics (and possibly office furniture) for a few days/weeks.

Your contribution does good

Allowing access to your unused space, you help reducing waste, CO² and contribute to a circular economy. A few square meters, scattered around Amsterdam will already greatly help realising the exchange of materials between companies, solving the storage problem, while Loop further solves the logistics.

Regular visits to your building also improves safety, providing protection from squatters.

Please contact me if you have any questions or know more than I do.

This coming Monday (March 21st), Startupbootcamp IoT | Connected Devices will make a stop in Amsterdam as part of its international tour to support the area’s best talent in IoT and hardware. Startups within the Consumer or Industrial IoT space will have the chance to meet Startupbootcamp mentors during a series of 20 minute one-on-one sessions to gain valuable product feedback and learn more about the Startupbootcamp IoT | Connected Devices program.

For those who aren't familiar with the Startupbootcamp IoT | Connected Devices program, it is a three-month accelerator which helps connect ten startups to the very best mentors, investors and partners in the IoT field, such as Cisco, DLL, Premier Farnell/element14, HWTrek and MJ Hudson. Each startup receives €15,000 and works out of the brand new 70,000 sq ft. Cocoon Networks lab in London. Currently open to applicants from across the globe until June 13th, startups selected for the program do not need to permanently relocate to London or be incorporated there. We only expect the startups to spend the three month acceleration period, which begins on September 5th, in London.

Circular Washing

In the Miele Inspirience Center in Vianen the Materials, Software and Operations of Bundles are demonstrated.

Bundles offers home appliances in a subscription model: Pay per Use. You don't pay for a washing machine, but you pay each time the Bundles washing machine delivers clean laundry. In this product-as-a-service business model the user lowers his total cost of, for example, washing, and the whole chain of companies delivering the service optimize their use of resources and thus margins.

In the Miele Experience Centerin Vianen the Materials, Software and Operations of Bundles are demonstrated. And you get a peak into the impact of the circular subscription economy in your Kitchen

The workshop we offer includes one hour of demo and one hour of testing.
